Nintendo on Minecraft's Absence From Wii U, 3DS

GameSpot: ''Mojang has released its megahit Minecraft on various platforms, including Xbox 360, PC, and mobile devices, but Nintendo systems have been left out so far.'' (3DS, Minecraft, Nintendo, Wii U)

this game suits nintendo systems so well especially with the wiiu gamepad
UltimateMaster  +   230d ago
Yet, so very little games on the wii u.
What's up with that?

Bad hardware sales. Because of no software success (however unjust). Its in a perpetual cycle of death and downward spiral that needs to get fixed asap.

I'm sure MS paid oodles of cash to ensure Minecraft stays on Xbox and away from Sony/Nintendo for a long time
LtSkittles  +   230d ago
Well, it's coming to the PS4, PS3, and Vita. The PS4 version is a launch title.
its coming on ps3,ps4 and vita also.
Deadpoolio  +   230d ago
Well that would have been a waste of money considering it's coming to PS3, Vita and PS4.....So there goes that theory

You are correct. They did, the creators said this.

The contract has apparently run its course, though.

This is a game Nintendo needs to get on their console. It fits with their audience, so well.
Acesonnall  +   230d ago
It's already been accepted that this game would be best on the 3DS and Wii U.

Although Nintendo's recent statements don't tell us anything new. They need to get this game on their platforms stat.

Kidding, Obviously.
I'm sure they ran it by Reggie to give Mojang the funds to support porting it over, and his response was probably,
"Meh"

People need to realize this industry isn't charity. Why it skipped 3DS? I don't know, maybe hardware restraints. Not just the lack of power, but controls would need to be adjusted for it.

Why did it skip WiiU? Gee I dunno, because the install base is rather small? The only reason Vita is getting it is because Sony is showcasing how easy it is to port stuff to it after you make a Ps3/PS4 version.

I play Minecraft on my PSP
miyamoto  +   230d ago
Minecraft can be played on my PSP so why can they do it for.Nintendo platforms? It surely aint about hardware power isnt it?
Does Minecraft share the same reason Project Phoenix aint coming to Nintendo platforrms?
lilbroRx  +   229d ago
You can find an excuse for everything if you look hard enough.

What the facts, trends and logic point to tend to be different though.

The most likely reason is because Nintendo doesn't wipe developers rectums with money the way Sony and Microsoft do. Many devs have gotten used to having their palms greased, and on Nintendo hardware its sink or swim by your own hand.

Pathetic
Utterly pathetic, the game is on every platform known to man except Nintendo's? Nintendo has some serious issues getting content from western devs, indie or established. And It's actually hurting the industry as a whole.

Nintendo is actually pretty good with indies in general. A lot of things that sony is doing nintendo is also doing. The problem is that while sony is making a big deal of it (and rightly so), nintendo isn't talking much about it. There was an interview where an indie dev was saying that the wiiu is actually easier to develop for than steam. They do have a problem with western devs though but I don't see that changing. A lot of third parties won't release their games for a nintendo system because of the belief that third party games don't sell well on nintendo hardware (even if the hardware itself is successful). When they do though a lot don't want to spend much money because they aren't confident that their games will sell. This in turn means that people buy less third party games because they see them as low quality.

With 100 million in the bank you are no longer indie lol.
millzy102  +   229d ago
Actually yes they are, indy stands for independent as in not tied to a publisher/ and they own 100% of there company and are free to do what they please, it has nothing to do with money in the bank.
scissor_runner  +   229d ago
They are an independent developer, I reserved indy for shoestring budget studios.tYet you are correct.

This would be perfect for the gamepad& the 3DS bottom screen.
RFornillos4  +   229d ago
pretty easy... Sony and MS are paying a lot to Mojang to get it on their systems. Nintendo on the other hand doesn't stoop down to that level. the most Nintendo's probably done is to give Mojang a free devkit.
