Metro - Hideki Kamiya has admitted he wants to release the original Bayonetta on the Wii U and that he’d like to become a Nintendo second party developer.
And I'd love to see it happen. Say what you will about your distaste of the idea, but no matter how much you hate it, the fact is, the Wii U could DEFINITELY use more good games, and Kamiya is known for good games. Plus, he might also get his shot at making a Star Fox game that way. I'd love to see that happen.
This would be sick
Oh dear. A lot of people won't be happy by that prospect.
He seriously wants to be a second party developer even after the low sales of his Wonderful 101. Not that I'm saying bad about the game, it's just that this guy is a little too ambitious.
Well, if he does, then that means no sale on any of their games from me, sadly. I enjoyed Bayonetta, Vanquish and MGR:R, but that may be the only games i play from them.
Same sentiment, my friend. And oh my god did I enjoy Vanquish and the first bayonetta. It's just sad that he may never go back to other platforms. I guess if he thinks he'll get more money with Nintendo, well, who are we to judge the guy? and lol I can't believe that our comments are being disliked. Guess you can't give opinions on Nintendo home base.
Become a second party developer after you release Vanquish 2 not before.
I agree. at the VERY least make Vanquish 2 multi-platform. :/
I would love to see what they can offer with another Vanquish. That is, if it's a multi-platform game. If he does indeed take this direction, then i'll just spend my money elsewhere. Sad as it may be, that's the way i'm looking at it.
If you gonna come here a complain about them becoming Second Party. Think back. Did you buy Bayonetta, Vanquish, Okami(PS3 owners) and Metal Gear Rising. I got: Bayonetta 360, Vanquish PS3 and Okami Wii. Picking up MGR later. So if you have all four of those games and you complaining then you are no PG fan.
You might want to edit that to Vanquish, if you're saying that you're a PG fan. :) And for the record, i bought the 4 games i listed on release. Bayonetta is certainly better than the crap released by Capcom. Just because i can't edit the other comment, i bought Bayonetta, Vanquish, MGR:R and Anarchy Reigns on release. Anarchy Reigns is probably the closest that we'll ever get to a more mature brawler.
I don't know why I always spell it that way lol but love the game.
All of their multiplatform games have sold better on PlayStation platforms, because PlayStation is the home for action games specifically hack and slash which is a genre they are masters of. On top of that a lot of their games are mature or artistic which again is a strong selling point for PlayStation gamers (Mature and Nintendo don't work well). Viewtiful Joe is the only multiplatform game to sell better on a non-PlayStation platform and that's because it came to GameCube a full year before it hit PS2 (most of Platinum games employees worked with Capcom back then). Even with Bayonetta being an inferior port, it still outsold the 360 version. The Wonderful 101 is struggling to sell 20,000 copies (YES 20k). I guess they think by being a Nintendo company they'll have the potential to sell like Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros., and Mario Kart, but it's just not going to happen for them. MadWorld is their best selling Nintendo game and it sold 720k which is decent for their average game sales per console. I'm guessing their old school gamers, so they're fans of Nintendo, but the kind of games they make are better marketed at PlayStation gamers. If anything they should be a PlayStation second party. But if Nintendo's the only company willing to support them, then by all means go with Nintendo for the sake of your business.
nope. Okami on Wii sold better than both PS2 and PSN version. The Wonderful 101 had little marketing in Japan. Nintendo only shipped 30k for release. The Wonderful 101 has more marketing in US and EU than Japan.
I doubt this has anything to do with sales. They don't want to work with Nin to sell more, they want to because he enjoys it and thinks he can make the games he wants. If that's where he can make the games he wants I'm all for it. When devs are happy and have creative license along with the support needed we get wonderful games like TLoU, Xenoblade, Wonderful 101, SOTC exc. Platinum, Atlus, Mistwalker would all be a great addition to Nintendo. I hope all 3 get bought as they're games are perfect for the audience.
@Misaka_x_Touma Link Okami sales for me please, or a more accuarate source than VGChartz. http://www.vgchartz.com/gam... If that's true about The Wonderful 101, then Nintendo failed this game in Japan at least. But with better marketing in EU, it's still selling horrible there. We'll see how it does in the US. But my point still stands. Platinum games are masters of the hack and slash Action genre, and PlayStation is the best home for those kinds of games. Bayonetta sold better on PS3 Vanquish sold better on PS3 Anarchy Reigns sold better on PS3 Metal Gear Rising sold better on PS3 DMC sold better on PS3 Ninja Gaiden 3 sold better on PS3 (and was the first to launch simultaneously, and even with years of time between them the Sigma versions still sold on par with 360) Darksiders 2 sold better on PS3 (DS1 sales are missing for some reason) Dante's Inferno sole better on PS3 God of War is the best selling hack and slash franchise Platinum games are better suited for PlayStation 2nd party. But again as I said earlier if Nintendo is funding their games then by all means stay with Nintendo.
101 was advertised heavily on TV in Japan. I rarely watch TV, and still managed to catch several ads for it.
I think its right. Nintendo saved Bayonetta 2 and likely have more up their sleeve. If Nintendo is the only one putting their games out they should just forget everybody else.
PG are ok, but lately their games have been selling like crap. MGR sells are decent, but that's because it came from a well known ip, and I guess those anti DMC fanboys also bought the game thinking it was like devil may cry, just because the original creator works at PG. So yea If Nintendo wants PG as a first, or second developer and does not care if the games sell like crap, then I suggest to PG to take it. Before PG goes out of business.
While people can be understandably upset if PG becomes a second party I also understand why they'd want to. So far it seems like Nintendo has been treating them pretty well. Then there's the fact that Kamiya has said he'd love to work on a new Star Fox game so being second party might improve the odds of that. Overall I'd say they're happy, I suppose the word is? Kind of odd to say a company is 'happy' but from what I've read the majority of people in PG seem to have no complaints working with Nintendo.
Funny how the only real people who would be upset are the ones who are so blinded by fanboyism that they aren't willing to support more than one console manufacturer. I own a Wii U, and sometime next year will pick up an XB1 or PS4 (depending on which one appeals to me more). Should I be upset because I'll have to play Platinum games on my Wii U should they go 2nd party?
