Analyst: Nintendo’s Wii U Deluxe Price Cut Will Drive Higher Sales

On Wednesday, Nintendo announced a $50 reduction in the suggested retail price of the Wii U Deluxe bundle to $299.99. According to the press release, which is included on the next page, the price reduction will go into effect starting September 20 ahead of the release of the Xbox One and PS4 this November. We expect the price cut to drive higher sales, but believe the Wii U will remain challenged by a lack of compelling first- and third-party content this holiday.

Hell yeah it will, that plus the awesome games coming out!

LOL_WUT1901d ago

Those "awesome" games won't be out till 2014 but I agree with everyone else the sales can only go up from here. ;)

Those games your referring to are the perfect games. Im referring to the awesome games like SM3DW, WWHD, W101, DKCTF, Sonic Lost World, and the rest.

Donkey Kong tropical freeze is gonna be awesome!

admiralvic1901d ago

Well it certainly won't result in lower sales, so kudos on applying common sense to a situation.

HAHAHAHA! He was trying to state the obvious to the PS4 XB1 fanboys.

What would we do without these Analyst's eh?

Parapraxis1901d ago

yeah, price cuts by retailers in the UK earlier this year did jack shit.

na-no-nai1901d ago

Gotta remembered there's not much games then or games that worth buying a wii u until now and from then onward.

Parapraxis1901d ago

True enough.
Holiday season incoming anyways, so higher sales are basically guaranteed.

SOFTWARE sells HARDWARE. That's how it's always been. That's why these things are called VIDEO GAME consoles. Even though they're now multimedia machines - there first and foremost feature is to play video games.

Think of a cup of ice cream.

The console is the cup.
The games are the ice-cream.
The extra features are the whipped cream.
And if there's a price-cut - then that would be like the sprinkles with a cherry on top. Not necessary ~ but makes everything better.

Doesn't matter how cheap or expensive the thing is - people aren't gonna buy it if there's no games worth playing - unless they're the type who buys a Wii as a really cheap Netflix machine.
