GB: "We speak to Executive producer Clint Worley about bringing the MMO to PS4."
I'm getting this game right now as I'm typing on steam, looks good so going to give it a go :)
It takes a while to get into, a bit difficult to start out, but it's great once you get the hang of it.
That's why i'm going to wait untill PS4 until I properly get into it. Last time I played on PC I no fucking idea what was what. Why you couldnt get into tanks, why some people had quad bikes etc. I'm hoping they'll add some accessibility for the console version. This is going to be so much fun.
I love a good challenge, and this game will be great on my PS4 maybe I should train on PC so I kickass at launch
It seems as is if good news for this console, is the only news there is. I for one can't wait to play this on the PS4.
Let me give you a warning though. If your playing on a AMD processor that depends on multiple threads your machine won't actually play as well as an Intel PC would. Right now SOE is making it for the PS4 and admitted to having problems because there engine isn't good at being multi-threaded but since they are breaking that thread up for the PS4 AMD players will get a big boast because they are going to re-implement it as multi-threaded. Here is a link to the article if you wish to read it. http://www.playstationlifes... It might be after they release the PS4 version that PC gets the multi-threaded version though.
Thanks for that article, I'am REALLY skeptical at SOE at making such a bold claim as saying PS2 will look/perform as good as running on a high-end gaming desktop. as far as I know they, haven't even shown any beta or alfa footage running off PS4's dev kits yet. Now that I've seen this article, It just raised my skepticism even higher. Didn't even realize the intel's single thread code against amd's multi-threaded code. I belive allot of specific pc ports may struggle on next-gen consoles because of this.
Especially when they say they are targeting visuals on par with a high end PC. It doesn't mean the final product will be on par with the high end PC though. Goal isn't equal to reality. To quote this article, “Based on the PS4 hardware, we are TARGETING visuals that are on par with a high end PC gaming setup. PlanetSide 2 already looks amazing and being able to use all of the PS4 tech to crank up the details will really impress our players.”
Try and find a Platoon! When there are 100 of you working together towards one common goal with leaders directing you to victory it can be a fun and kickass experience!
I'm confused with how Planetside 2 is having no problems on PS4, yet BF4 and EA are. Cause, SCALE, Scope, Size-wise, Planetside 2 is MASSIVE, the only thing that causes discrepancies involving the difference with BF4 and this is, destructible environments, that mostly is it, so why such horribly optimization issues with EA?!
It is as you said and what a lot of us have been saying. A game like PS2 which struggled to run well even on high end PCS for a while will be able to run relatively easily on PS4 due to continued optimization. They said they were working to fix it up and I guess they were just waiting for the right time :] I hope it's available day one!
Never been a PC gamer, but i know that for 4K$ i can make a PC that surpass any gaming machine, but how many games use this power 4-5?why should i waste my money on something that hardly supported and in few months will become old and cheaper. honestly my favorite game this gen is Red dead redemption it's not even released on PC and most of the other games being ports from 2005-6 consoles technology
Hey !! DOnt download it from steam !! The STEAM PROGRAM slow down the game a bit so you get worse fps (its very cpu heavy still) So download the client instead, much better. I am not fooling you - im an ps1 vet (8 yers) and played ps2 sence early beta. enjoy the game : )
I've seen some of those battles. There are HUNDREDS of people all going at at once. Its insane. The map is like miles wide and you can fight in the air or on the ground, all on one board. Its gets batshit crazy.
And this will turn into a flame article. *Squirtle i.choose you* Gotta be preparee for.the flames.
Why would this turn into a flame war? doubt that PC fanboys are as rabid/defensive as Xbox ones.
This is PS4 based article. Unless someone flames the Xbox One, I dont see this turning into flame bait.
not xbot he meant PC elites
Hell goddamn greatness ultra combo.
This was actually confirmed back at E3. This video shows the free-to-play greatness of PS4. http://www.youtube.com/watc... PlanetSide 2 interview is @ 07:20
and people have the nerve to say next gen cant run bf4 1080p when this has... 1. 3,000 players. 2. outrageously huge worlds 3. vehicles 4. destruction
It doesn't look all that good though, the scale is what pushes the hardware and the amount of players.
Are you crazy, you have to say it looks amazing on here. I got bored of this game a while ago, its just not that great. Still impressive that it can run well on PS4 though.
You mean and people have the nerve to say PS4 cant run bf4 1080p when this has... Cause im sure X1 can not run this on max.
I guess I was right after all....
how can this be high end with 2000 players at once, and battlefield 4 is medium?
because people listen to people who stir $hit on youtube. fact is DICE never confirmed the resolution.
In an article after E3 an DICE developer said they was aiming for 60fps and 1080p on the PS4...For some reason they have backed track on this statement. Now with this news of PS2 will look like its on an High End PC on the PS4...Wil bring more questions towards DICE if they cant/won't achieve 60fps and 1080p with BF4 on PS4...
@younglj01 see you are now one of the people who stir $hit up... ea said that the gameplay (the one you referenced in your commnet that says it looks like "PS2") was running on a pre-alpha dev kit..... this means that the game itself was still being made when they showed that gameplay. they have confirmed that BF4 will be running at a higher resolution on both PS4 and X1. and that they will both have the same resolution. come on man...... Get your FOX on!
also 60fps and 1080p ummmm something smell fishy coming from DICE/EA
Turd Party laziness!
Exactly, makes me wonder if lesser consoles, are getting in the way of achieving true greatness.
DICE:5 platforms SOE: 2 platforms
But if 2 of those platforms could run an title at PC levels and another one couldn't?I think an business man would make some type of contract to have equal products between 2 certain platforms...
but how many people do they have working on each game?
@dcj0524... Exactly. That's what I've been screaming for the longest. The same goes for Watchdogs, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty etc.
Because the MS money train won't allow any multiplat game to look/play better on any other system besides theirs. http://www.examiner.com/art...
take that bf! also dualshock 4 has some exciting features, im actually looking froward to what can come from each game :)
Seeing is believing.
glass half empty huh?
All blind people must be heretics by that logic and probably think they live in dream world, freaking Stevie wonder must be thinking he's in Jumanji lol
Nice. I'll definitely be giving this a go, along with DCUO and Warframe.
@ABeastNamedTariq "Nice. I'll definitely be giving this a go, along with DCUO and Warframe." the best thing is, you still do not need playstation+ to play these online multi-player games on the PS4, they are still free for people to play without the need to have playstation+. So even though, multi-player for games on PS4 will be plenty, there is games for PS4 gamer's that are still free online play, and those game's i can say in my opinion look pretty [email protected]
The sooner the better I need a great multiplayer wile I wait for titanfall and halo and gears, this and killzone will hold me off till then skipping bf4 on console till I see reviews.
i really hope sony gets tera at some point too~ i loved playing it my laptop but it made it overheat :[ i'm also excited for warframe, which my laptop also couldn't handle >.> please get tera, sony!!! o3o
Heh, you think your laptop is bad, I fried mine with Halo 2 on low settings, still, I got to play through the great game.
Can't wait for this and War Thunder. This is going to be a great generation.
I'm excited for war thunder. Hasn't been a good dog fight game for years
@younggli, yeah, we'll know very soon. i for one never bought the 60 fps 720p bull, its a next gen console ffs you know. and besides, that, aren't they still optimization the console versions? i think people are just impatient.
because third party-vs-first party developers.it was always up to sony inhouse developers to show off the ps3.so we got some great 1st party games GOW heavy rain last of us uncharted MGS4(neededbluray) infamous i hope this is not the case this time around.mark design the ps4 with great capability and development is more like a p.c.so there shouldn't be no problems with reaching [email protected]
This game is not like your typical mmo i've been playing for a few weeks now and i'm still not entirely used to it but the game is lots of fun putting all those hours in cannot wait for ps4 version
This game was very poor on steam and the graphics are average which is why you can have high settings
@Pascalini "This game was very poor on steam and the graphics are average which is why you can have high settings" "the graphics are average" LMAO this is rich http://www.game-debate.com/... http://www.youtube.com/watc...
That video was incredible. I hope the PlayStation 4 version can come close to that.
@grassyknoll "That video was incredible. I hope the PlayStation 4 version can come close to that." well the developer's did say the PS4 development for this game will mainly have the setting's set to Ultra, and since BOTH THE CPU & GPU are direct on die, along with the ability to use unified system ram, and the fact that to I/O being that there is a 3rd connect Bus/ at over 20GB/sec without needing to burden the main throughput Bus. that 176GB/sec will or should be ready to enable performance to maintain discrete stability. The PS4 design, from a strict gaming performance level will be able to keep up with PC's High end required ultra setting Applications from say 2 to 3 years ago on developed PC software games, if they are coded to PS4 in direct to metal optimised code. So planet side 2 should run very smooth and stable frame rates even in heavy Rendering as long as the code is clean.
It looks really fun from what I have seen, huge battles.
Is this a launch game? I look forward to playing it.
also wondering this. last i read it was a lunch window game coming out in 2013. any body know any updates on this release? its one of my most anticipated games for ps4
@ddurand1 they said its set to launch later this year, but since they have been working to put it on the PS4 early, just like DCU, i would think its going to be close to launch or shortly after. http://www.polygon.com/2013...
PS4 is going to kick a$$! I want the system so bad right now.. 2 1/2 more months!!!
but, Ive been following this game for a while, so they gotta show me, not just tell me
I think PS4 will blow away a high end Gaming PC
yup on it's knees
This massive MP game is Free-To-Play (F2P) and in the open PSN, not behind the PS+ subscription pay wall, only on the PS4. Now Guess Who? is going to find all kinds of problems with that?
Fantastic. My PC won't run it, so playing this on PS4 looks like it will be a perfect compromise.
Suck it elitists.
yeah to all the pc gamers that think sony would make a game on another platform that their own platform cant run as good or better, ps4 is much more powerful than the pc nerds love to make it seem like it is and it shows in exclusive titles and in planetside 2
I played PS2 back when I had a GTX 570 in my gaming rig (GTX 770 now). I managed to play it on max settings around 50fps normally, with extreme fire fights going down to around 35fps. Average was around 45. Now the GTX 570's performance output is ~1.5 TFLOPs, compared to the 1.84 TFLOPs of the PS4's GPU, so one would assume that this statement is true. But for an MMO like PS2, CPU is just as important as the GPU. I ran it with a OC'd i7-2600k @4.2GHz. so the PS4 CPU "might" be the bottleneck. BUT, from the interview with the devs, they are optimising the game well for the PS4, so it might actually run like a high end PC version in the end.
here we go again.... will they just stop it already with this "will look like high end PC talk". They are going to hype everyone up, as usual, and then the outcome will not be so. I hope people have enough sense to disregard this talk from now on. don't even take it with a grain of salt...
@kuntryboy " here we go again.... will they just stop it already with this "will look like high end PC talk". They are going to hype everyone up, as usual, and then the outcome will not be so. I hope people have enough sense to disregard this talk from now on. don't even take it with a grain of salt..." I would also agree to be reserved in hype also, but in this case the developer's showed off DCU, on the PS3 and DCU on the PS4 and there is a stark contrast of how much better the DC Universe will look on the PS4. because by the developer's own account the porting from the PC to the PS4 is pretty much in Parity with all assets being conducive to being pretty much near the same. Many games made even today, still do not put their games direct to metal, where Consoles are. the fact that both the xboxone and the PS4 have such robust hardware, yes even though they cannot outperform PC's from say 2 to 3 years ago, that still does not take away from the fact that by design these new system will be able to handle games that were develped 2 to 3 years ago for the PC just fine and handle them on high setting's this new generation of hardware is not going to be like it was for console hardware vs what you can expect from games for consoles and those for PC's this new generation is pretty much on a whole other level. there is a reason why developer's like carmack were talking so + about this new generation of console machines. these console's are not meant to be able to keep up with such a machine with something like an Nvidia Tesla , and thinking people acting like they are is, not really an issue, because im pretty sure no one really even thinks they could. No what they are really talking about is not one game out there for that matter is even taking advantage of such hardware anyway! because there is so much variation, that is out there just trying to take advantage of such hardware would make the cost of your development sky rocket for such a low number of gamer's that have such hardware in their PC Systems anyway. There is enough ummph in these new machines that they would be able to handle games like this just fine. It would be one thing is the game was designed direct to metal for the PC and you were targeting say a sli get up or something like that, but in this case its not. Just because the developers are saying they are putting the game to ultra setting's does not mean they are stretching the truth or something like that, when the game they are talking about is not out of the question to be able to be ran on such hardware as the PS4 and run very well.
