Opinion: Why the Nintendo 2DS is a brilliant product

Yesterday, Nintendo announced a new handheld gaming console called the Nintendo 2DS. The 2DS is priced at $129.99 and for the audience that the product is intended for, that’s perfect. I’m not gonna lie, I don’t like the product and I think the design is awful but that’s fine because the product wasn’t designed for people like me or even you. It was designed by Nintendo to close that price gap between the Wii U and the 3DS. (3DS, Nintendo 2DS)

Agreed.

What would have made it perfect would be if they moved the start/select buttons to the lower left and put a 2nd analog slidepad on the lower right.

Games like nano assault and res evil will miss out on this unless nin already has a c-pad pro+ in the works.

Apart from ugly design and poor name of choice...lets face it with this price this will sell like crazy further burying the vita in its grave. So lets not get would be analyst and say with that price it wont sell when the 3ds is already a huge success...

I would call it the nintendo 3S and give it a better design.

Right now 1st party refurbished 3DS also runs for $129.99 and they have it in pimp purple.
Transporter47  +   606d ago
But it isn't. It looks uncomfortable to play and ugly and will confuse the consumers by the name and it even confuses me...
_QQ_  +   606d ago
its not aimed for you.so don't worry about it.
Transporter47  +   606d ago
Really, okay lets say your an average mom buying a gameboy for your son, they ask what is this 2ds where are the 2ds games?
_QQ_  +   606d ago
then they will be pointed to the 3DS games...

this thing is pure win for nintendo and collectors. Besides the lack of 3d and fold and go design...what's not to like?

What's not to like? The lack of 3d and fold and go. Oh, wait...

$129.99?

Finally... something about this version that makes sense!
josephayal  +   606d ago
what is that thing? why did they instead of a big screen, have 2 tiny, tiny screens? anyway, it's for children that want put it and play on the floor
darthv72  +   606d ago
the screens are the same size as the original 3ds. which are bigger than the ds, ds-lite and the original dsi.
RXL  +   606d ago
