Why the 2DS is a Smart Move by Nintendo

Has everyone calmed down? To be honest its hard to believe why such reception was given towards Nintendo latest announced handheld model. To be honest with myself I could understand the shock and unexpected reveal of a new 3DS model which looks incredibly ugly with a weird concept of removing an essential part of what makes the 3DS stand out. After I reflected it about it, I now feel why this was essentially a smart move by Nintendo. (3DS, Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo DS)
