The COO explains the tricks and troubles of preparing for the new consoles
Hahaha oh i bet they have you dirty old fox you!
Yeah, EA's Microsoft's whore these days. For shame.
"Microsoft has been very aggressive with us, as had Sony, we're a very powerful publisher obviously, that has the ability to deliver great content and makes a difference on their platforms, and they want to make sure they get that." The full quote before people start jumping the gun.
This is all I see when I read this headline... AGGR£$$IV£ ...
Nice catch Septic. I just read through the articles and saw that. Still, this thread will turn into a bloody mess soon as always. LOL
Agressively feeding them MONEY...
Lol... that title. This place never ceases to amaze me. BS central.
@Gster. You could have replaced the g's with euro signs.....but whatever...I don't care
Title change is needed.. obviously fishing for hits or trying to unfairly bash Microsoft. Either way it should be EA's Moore: "Microsoft has been very aggressive with us, as had Sony"
@NeloAngelo So? -I'm buying a X1, I hope they keep feeding as many devs as possible money.
lol at N4G Lets just remove the part where he says "Sony" and just make it another anti MS article. It is N4G after all.
Shame on the prideful Nintendawg. AW's obviously new to N4G, LOOOOOL.
Honestly, who really cares all that much? Microsoft teaming up with the worst company in America? And you guys thought ms can screw themselves up that bad by themselves..i dont think so. Little bit of EAs help goes a long way :)
@Septic & No_Limit The reason why, even though he did also mention sony, people will only see microsoft is that there is a blatant favored collaboration between microsoft and EA and anyone who says that that isn't true is either blind or mentally challenged. And just to put things in perspective for the people who don't know, Peter Moore used to be the Corporate Vice-President of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division and Don Mattrick served as the President of Worldwide Studios for Electronic Arts and in july 2007 they practically switched jobs. Just a little food for thought.
OK, but that doesn't change the fact that whoever posted this article chopped the quote right before the words "as has Sony"... Whoever posted this article is trying to frame the news, and impact our perspective. Spin spin spin... no matter how you justify it.
@malokevi Agreed, and in no way was I trying to justify it, all I was stating is why people, even after reading the article, would still only focus on the microsoft part. Even though the writer had his own agenda, after reading the article most people would still see EA as being 80% pro xbox one, because it's true. Make no mistake, EA also supporting the PS4 has nothing to to with relationship or because they aren't bias, it's because they will sell millions of copies of their games to it's fan base while still giving microsoft better deals and better support 90% of the time.
"Make no mistake, EA also supporting the PS4 has nothing to to with relationship or because they aren't bias, it's because they will sell millions of copies of their games to it's fan base while still giving microsoft better deals and better support 90% of the time."
Back that up with anything. Please. Sony killed their internal sports development studios to secure a deal with EA that kept all EA games off the Dreamcast. You are really going to spin Sony off as a victim here?
@ Death At no point did I say that sony was a saint. Where in my post did I say sony was a victim? Stating the obvious was simply that, stating the obvious. Whether or not it makes sony look like a victim it does not make it any less true. What does a situation that happened 15 years ago have to do with the topic at hand? Is it that what sony did 15 years ago makes what EA is doing now not true? I fail to see your argument. Is sony a saint? Hell no. Sony even tried to screw their customers with the PS2 DVD drive fiasco. All those companies see one thing, the bottom dollar and they all have blood on their hands. Does that mean we should turn a blind eye? Hell no. Should we ignore what EA is doing now because of what sony did 15 years ago? I s that what you're saying? When sony tried to screw everyone with the ps2 situation we were vocal and we spoke out, they were taken to court and they lost. we won. When microsoft screwed us with the RROD we were vocal, they were taken to court. We won. At the end of the day whenever a company is doing shit we have the right to speak up. If you want to sit there and say that EA is not showing favoritism to microsoft especially knowing the history of their relationship and how it was formed then you are just as much of a hypocrite as EA is and you'll probably fit in very well when they and microsoft are having their board meetings discussing how they can rape and pillage the pockets of every other gamer out there.
Why does the title only show the Anti-MS side, I'd ask how this got approved but i think we all know how.
Please enlighten us.
Moore was with MS wasn't he hmmm.. I smell covert ops in us for MS guess EA games will look the same on both consoles no matter what and EA will take that check to the bank for MS getting preferential treatment from them. I could be wrong but we will see in the next year
Phil Harrison was with Sony for a long time before joining Microsoft? Another conspiracy? Hmmm...
MS writing check and trying to kill competetitiom... http://www.youtube.com/watc... makes sense buy I am getting ps4.
lol.....knee slappin funny......good 1 its not everyday you see a death note gif lol
EA: "So this is what it feels like when people buy from us?"
lol perfect. Karma. Now EA is learning how it feels to be someone elses B!tch.. For years EA would bully and throw their weight around, we all know that. I'm glad to see it being returned in kind.
and that's why titanfall is coming exclusively first on xbox one?
It's a given. A very big deal it was. Must have cost MS a fortune. However i think it will backfire big time on EA. Titan is EA's answer to Activision COD or Destiny. Destiny and COD will be available on PS4 from the get go. By the time Titan fall releases it will not be able to compete with Destiny on PS4 at least. With how things are going the PS4 will lead sales. Very bad move by EA. Thinking short term and not long term. I hope the money from MS is enough.
Have you seen the VGChartz preorder numbers, so far Knack has more preorders than Titanfall. Sure Titanfall isn't a launch title, but even so it is insane that there US pre-orders aren't over 50,000 yet. So yeah, I think this definitely backfired on them.
VGchartz are fictionary, made up numbers.Guesstimates.I'm not trying to downplay knack's potential success, but don't quote vgchartz as a source.
@cleft5 You know Knack is a launch tittle while Titanfall is not. A fair comparison would be Titanfall and Infamous:SS and I don't see the later nowhere in that list.
you have to think about it bro Microsoft has given ea more than enough money to make up for sales even if the PlayStation 4 leads the X 1 EA has got their money back out of titan fall that's the only way they would make it exclusive to the Xbox 1
Just to clarify, Destiny won't be out until 2014 either
aggressive approach,so bad
He claims to have deals with Sony and PS4 so where the hell are they? EA games are selling more on ps4 already (pre-orders) so they should seriously re-evaluate which side they're leaning too
Well, in all honesty, there was a lot of BF4 talk in re: PS4 lately (good or bad). It opened at MS E3 conference but has since only shown on PS4 HW - never on a XBone console (E3 was all PC). Probably a reaction to pre-order numbers?
But they have historically sold better on Xbox 360. Yes that might change but the install base of the next gen consoles won't be great enough to sway EA away just yet. Also you never know how the rest of the generation might swing.
Someone needs a history lesson. Lol! Sony has sold over 300 millions home consoles since they introduced the Playstation... Microsoft has only just sold over 100 millions home consoles since the original xbox... It's safe to assume that ea has made more money with Sony over the years ;-)
And they made a big deal about their games selling better on PS3 anyway in the past years . Anyway their way , as repulsive as it might be , sounds logical . If like a poster above mentioned , their stuff is selling better anyway on PS4 , for now , why shouldnt they boost a weaker XBONE side with incentives ?
Maybe EA doesn't like competing for shelf space with all of Sony's studios? Is it really logical for Sony to have the most exclusives and the most third party support?
I remember when EA said F" to Sega Dreamcast and we got all those great ( at the time ) sports games of course then EA had to go buy up license for football and kill innovation maybe we will see this backfire also
Not sure why the title of this made me laugh lol.
Yes so aggressive that they agreed to bundle Fifa 14 with pre orders to try and salvage the EU market.
Actually, MS wanted Fifa as an exclusive but EA didn't bite. MS was willing to pay a lot of money. And I mean, a lot. Can't say more though.
Fifa needs to be on multiple platforms. That is part of the deal with the FIFA. Don't pretend you would be an insider please.
What's the point of MS paying them if you sell a brand to 10M customers on the competing platform. Is MS willing to pay that kind of money? Makes no sense. Cuts your margin in half.
Hahaha. No wonder. Sony advertises for the Champions League FFS using Playstation. MS has nothing to do with any football tournament. EA has to abide by FIFA's sponsors.
@DiRtY Insider is a big word. I'm just working as a motion designer for one of the developers. I hear some things sometimes and have access to latest toys. Ehh, the disagrees: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y... And I was mistaken, MS didn't talk to EA but directly with FIFA. FIFA didn't bite. And you'll see Xbox One ads around the stadiums too.
No you won't boing as Xbox isn't a CL sponsor.
Care to explain why bundles are bad now? I have the Xbox One on preorder with Ryse, Dead Rising 3 and CoD. MS and EA basically gave me Fifa 14 as a gift. I just fail to see how this is negative.
I never said it was a negative thing. What I said is this was not planned until they saw how bad the thing was selling in the EU. Do you see them giving away madden in the US market?
No one said bundle's were bad but it is a move of desperation, not generosity from MS. Tbh, I don't think it will work. Consumers are not dumb these days, they'll see that buying a PS4 and FIFA 14 still holds more value. MS need to up their game to another level. I can't wait to see how they respond.
@Stsonic If interest in PS4 is murdering Xbone in the US (On MS's own home turf) by 2:1, according to Gamestop... Then if I were MS, I would be completely HORRIFIED at how badly Xbone is getting slaughtered in Europe (and pretty much the rest of the world). lol No wonder they're doing a bundle... XD
Something smells fishy...
Nah, it's smells $$$$$ :D
"I love the smell of payola in the morning!"
Nice going...peter moore once worked for sega and even ms.nice to see the guy still so relevant in the industry.....microsoft needs to keep making better relationships with not just ea but other top 3rd partys too....I hear something is in the works with platinum and also ninja theory...hope it comes true...good job ms.
What do you get from it?.Do you like it when someone pays a lot of money to not release a game on another platform?.
He gets off on Microsoft doing ridiculous stuff. It actually DOES affect his enjoyment if the game is multiplat, or forced to be exclusive.
Dude hasnt sony done this before?...its called competition..its been hapening for a while even outside gaming(buy one get one free)..sony does it too just not on the scale ms does and thats cos ms has the financial capability. believe me if tables were turned do you really believe sony wouldnt do even more tham ms is doing? assasins creed, watchdogs, gta, mgs4 all have some sort of sony exclusivity...its not an issue to get bitter about, during the time of ps2 and the original xbox sony held so many games exclusive remember mgs2? im not pissed.im actually happy cos it gives me more reasons to be happy about my choice.i own a ps3 and an xbox 360 but most of my multiplat games were on the 360 majorly cause of the controller and most friends of mine had the xbox 360..it will be same with the xbox one but i will definitly still be getting the ps4 down the road..after all the ps4 has stuff too that i like..this type of competition will only make both hardware devs innovate better... @hicken i do not know where you get your logic from? there is nothing wrong in getting exclusive content if you can afford it..remember if the 3rd party dev didnt want it they would refuse the offer..ms didnt force them you know...its business
We can see that.... Almost all EA titles are timed exclusives for XB1, BF4 timed exclusive DLC, Fifa 14 exclusive UTL mode for Xbox platform, Fifa 14 bundle with every XB1 pre order while stocks last, Titan Fall (possibly timed exclusive), probably missing some things. We could see all of this at the EA's GC conference. XB1 was mentioned a lot of times. When they said this was an unprecedented partnership they weren't joking.
I'm buying a ps4 and this doesn't bother me. I haven't bought a game with the EA brand on it since Skate stopped being made. Nothing appeals to me.
If they get exclusive Battlefront content, I'll be upset.
Same here timed launches won't kill me, I don't pay DLC and I don't play sports games so this deal has no affect on me.
Microsoft has EA in their pocket Sony has Indies in their pocket What's the problem?
How so?? From what we have seen all Sony is doing is embracing the indie community and giving them a platform where they can stay independent like on PC, Nintendo and mobile platforms. So you're saying Sony is paying all indie devs like the guys who make War Frame and War thunder from going to the Xbox platform. When they have said multiple times the only thing blocking them is MS policies with F2P games atm and their recent indie policy change from being in motion because it's currently in beta. Embracing and being in the pocket are not the same thing.
Sony embraces Indie developers. There's a huge difference there. Really sad that Microsoft is more concerned with timed multiplats than new IPs.
yeah, I would rather play games from indie developers going to next gen, because this gen we get nothing new coming from big game publisher beside sequels and prequels.
I think the FIFA move is good but in Europe FIFA is very much associated with Playstation. The shear amount of ads and the sponsorship of the CL won't be easily forgotten. I think the FIFA deal will help MS, no doubt, but i'm not sure it will be enough to win back many consumers. They did some real damage to themselves as a brand. People can say they have recovered quickly (they have), but if you think it has been forgotten by the average customer then you are deluding yourselves. Consumers are like Elephants. They don't forgot and they have trunks. Long trunks. Grey wrinkly trunks.
