"Microsoft has been very aggressive with us, as had Sony, we're a very powerful publisher obviously, that has the ability to deliver great content and makes a difference on their platforms, and they want to make sure they get that."

Honestly, who really cares all that much? Microsoft teaming up with the worst company in America? And you guys thought ms can screw themselves up that bad by themselves..i dont think so. Little bit of EAs help goes a long way :)
johndoe11211  +   893d ago
@Septic & No_Limit

The reason why, even though he did also mention sony, people will only see microsoft is that there is a blatant favored collaboration between microsoft and EA and anyone who says that that isn't true is either blind or mentally challenged.

And just to put things in perspective for the people who don't know, Peter Moore used to be the Corporate Vice-President of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division and Don Mattrick served as the President of Worldwide Studios for Electronic Arts and in july 2007 they practically switched jobs. Just a little food for thought.
malokevi  +   893d ago
OK, but that doesn't change the fact that whoever posted this article chopped the quote right before the words "as has Sony"...

Whoever posted this article is trying to frame the news, and impact our perspective.

Spin spin spin... no matter how you justify it.
johndoe11211  +   893d ago

Agreed, and in no way was I trying to justify it, all I was stating is why people, even after reading the article, would still only focus on the microsoft part.

Even though the writer had his own agenda, after reading the article most people would still see EA as being 80% pro xbox one, because it's true.

Make no mistake, EA also supporting the PS4 has nothing to to with relationship or because they aren't bias, it's because they will sell millions of copies of their games to it's fan base while still giving microsoft better deals and better support 90% of the time.
Death  +   892d ago
"Make no mistake, EA also supporting the PS4 has nothing to to with relationship or because they aren't bias, it's because they will sell millions of copies of their games to it's fan base while still giving microsoft better deals and better support 90% of the time."

Back that up with anything. Please. Sony killed their internal sports development studios to secure a deal with EA that kept all EA games off the Dreamcast. You are really going to spin Sony off as a victim here?
johndoe11211  +   892d ago
@ Death

At no point did I say that sony was a saint. Where in my post did I say sony was a victim? Stating the obvious was simply that, stating the obvious. Whether or not it makes sony look like a victim it does not make it any less true.

What does a situation that happened 15 years ago have to do with the topic at hand? Is it that what sony did 15 years ago makes what EA is doing now not true? I fail to see your argument.

Is sony a saint? Hell no. Sony even tried to screw their customers with the PS2 DVD drive fiasco. All those companies see one thing, the bottom dollar and they all have blood on their hands. Does that mean we should turn a blind eye? Hell no. Should we ignore what EA is doing now because of what sony did 15 years ago? I s that what you're saying?

When sony tried to screw everyone with the ps2 situation we were vocal and we spoke out, they were taken to court and they lost. we won. When microsoft screwed us with the RROD we were vocal, they were taken to court. We won. At the end of the day whenever a company is doing shit we have the right to speak up.

If you want to sit there and say that EA is not showing favoritism to microsoft especially knowing the history of their relationship and how it was formed then you are just as much of a hypocrite as EA is and you'll probably fit in very well when they and microsoft are having their board meetings discussing how they can rape and pillage the pockets of every other gamer out there.

and that's why titanfall is coming exclusively first on xbox one?
NateCole  +   893d ago
It's a given. A very big deal it was. Must have cost MS a fortune. However i think it will backfire big time on EA.

Titan is EA's answer to Activision COD or Destiny. Destiny and COD will be available on PS4 from the get go. By the time Titan fall releases it will not be able to compete with Destiny on PS4 at least. With how things are going the PS4 will lead sales.

Very bad move by EA. Thinking short term and not long term. I hope the money from MS is enough.
cleft5  +   893d ago
Have you seen the VGChartz preorder numbers, so far Knack has more preorders than Titanfall. Sure Titanfall isn't a launch title, but even so it is insane that there US pre-orders aren't over 50,000 yet. So yeah, I think this definitely backfired on them.
ThatCanadianGuy514  +   893d ago
VGchartz are fictionary, made up numbers.Guesstimates.I'm not trying to downplay knack's potential success, but don't quote vgchartz as a source.
tuglu_pati  +   892d ago

You know Knack is a launch tittle while Titanfall is not. A fair comparison would be Titanfall and Infamous:SS and I don't see the later nowhere in that list.
keyz1579  +   892d ago
you have to think about it bro Microsoft has given ea more than enough money to make up for sales even if the PlayStation 4 leads the X 1 EA has got their money back out of titan fall that's the only way they would make it exclusive to the Xbox 1

TheGreatGamer  +   893d ago
He claims to have deals with Sony and PS4 so where the hell are they? EA games are selling more on ps4 already (pre-orders) so they should seriously re-evaluate which side they're leaning too
Ju  +   893d ago
Well, in all honesty, there was a lot of BF4 talk in re: PS4 lately (good or bad). It opened at MS E3 conference but has since only shown on PS4 HW - never on a XBone console (E3 was all PC). Probably a reaction to pre-order numbers?
JBSleek  +   893d ago
But they have historically sold better on Xbox 360.

Yes that might change but the install base of the next gen consoles won't be great enough to sway EA away just yet.

Also you never know how the rest of the generation might swing.
SkippyPaccino  +   893d ago
Someone needs a history lesson. Lol! Sony has sold over 300 millions home consoles since they introduced the Playstation... Microsoft has only just sold over 100 millions home consoles since the original xbox... It's safe to assume that ea has made more money with Sony over the years ;-)
Baka-akaB  +   893d ago
And they made a big deal about their games selling better on PS3 anyway in the past years .

Anyway their way , as repulsive as it might be , sounds logical .

If like a poster above mentioned , their stuff is selling better anyway on PS4 , for now , why shouldnt they boost a weaker XBONE side with incentives ?
Death  +   892d ago
Maybe EA doesn't like competing for shelf space with all of Sony's studios? Is it really logical for Sony to have the most exclusives and the most third party support?
clonerz  +   892d ago
I remember when EA said F" to Sega Dreamcast and we got all those great ( at the time ) sports games of course then EA had to go buy up license for football and kill innovation maybe we will see this backfire also

Actually, MS wanted Fifa as an exclusive but EA didn't bite. MS was willing to pay a lot of money. And I mean, a lot. Can't say more though.
DiRtY  +   893d ago
Fifa needs to be on multiple platforms. That is part of the deal with the FIFA.

Don't pretend you would be an insider please.
Ju  +   893d ago
What's the point of MS paying them if you sell a brand to 10M customers on the competing platform. Is MS willing to pay that kind of money? Makes no sense. Cuts your margin in half.
Pintheshadows  +   893d ago
Hahaha. No wonder. Sony advertises for the Champions League FFS using Playstation. MS has nothing to do with any football tournament. EA has to abide by FIFA's sponsors.
boing1  +   893d ago
Insider is a big word. I'm just working as a motion designer for one of the developers. I hear some things sometimes and have access to latest toys.

Ehh, the disagrees:

And I was mistaken, MS didn't talk to EA but directly with FIFA. FIFA didn't bite. And you'll see Xbox One ads around the stadiums too.

Pintheshadows  +   893d ago
No you won't boing as Xbox isn't a CL sponsor.
DiRtY  +   893d ago
Care to explain why bundles are bad now?

I have the Xbox One on preorder with Ryse, Dead Rising 3 and CoD. MS and EA basically gave me Fifa 14 as a gift. I just fail to see how this is negative.
Stsonic  +   893d ago
I never said it was a negative thing. What I said is this was not planned until they saw how bad the thing was selling in the EU.

Do you see them giving away madden in the US market?
Pintheshadows  +   893d ago
No one said bundle's were bad but it is a move of desperation, not generosity from MS. Tbh, I don't think it will work. Consumers are not dumb these days, they'll see that buying a PS4 and FIFA 14 still holds more value.

MS need to up their game to another level. I can't wait to see how they respond.
Skips  +   893d ago

If interest in PS4 is murdering Xbone in the US (On MS's own home turf) by 2:1, according to Gamestop...

Then if I were MS, I would be completely HORRIFIED at how badly Xbone is getting slaughtered in Europe (and pretty much the rest of the world). lol

No wonder they're doing a bundle... XD

What do you get from it?.Do you like it when someone pays a lot of money to not release a game on another platform?.
Hicken  +   893d ago
He gets off on Microsoft doing ridiculous stuff.

It actually DOES affect his enjoyment if the game is multiplat, or forced to be exclusive.
christocolus  +   893d ago
Dude hasnt sony done this before?...its called competition..its been hapening for a while even outside gaming(buy one get one free) does it too just not on the scale ms does and thats cos ms has the financial capability. believe me if tables were turned do you really believe sony wouldnt do even more tham ms is doing? assasins creed, watchdogs, gta, mgs4 all have some sort of sony exclusivity...its not an issue to get bitter about, during the time of ps2 and the original xbox sony held so many games exclusive remember mgs2? im not actually happy cos it gives me more reasons to be happy about my choice.i own a ps3 and an xbox 360 but most of my multiplat games were on the 360 majorly cause of the controller and most friends of mine had the xbox will be same with the xbox one but i will definitly still be getting the ps4 down the road..after all the ps4 has stuff too that i like..this type of competition will only make both hardware devs innovate better...

i do not know where you get your logic from? there is nothing wrong in getting exclusive content if you can afford it..remember if the 3rd party dev didnt want it they would refuse the didnt force them you know...its business

We can see that.... Almost all EA titles are timed exclusives for XB1, BF4 timed exclusive DLC, Fifa 14 exclusive UTL mode for Xbox platform, Fifa 14 bundle with every XB1 pre order while stocks last, Titan Fall (possibly timed exclusive), probably missing some things. We could see all of this at the EA's GC conference. XB1 was mentioned a lot of times. When they said this was an unprecedented partnership they weren't joking.
Thehyph  +   893d ago
I'm buying a ps4 and this doesn't bother me. I haven't bought a game with the EA brand on it since Skate stopped being made. Nothing appeals to me.
WeAreLegion  +   893d ago

Microsoft has EA in their pocket
Sony has Indies in their pocket
What's the problem?
Kayant  +   893d ago
How so??

From what we have seen all Sony is doing is embracing the indie community and giving them a platform where they can stay independent like on PC, Nintendo and mobile platforms. So you're saying Sony is paying all indie devs like the guys who make War Frame and War thunder from going to the Xbox platform. When they have said multiple times the only thing blocking them is MS policies with F2P games atm and their recent indie policy change from being in motion because it's currently in beta. Embracing and being in the pocket are not the same thing.
kenshiro100  +   893d ago
Sony embraces Indie developers. There's a huge difference there.

Really sad that Microsoft is more concerned with timed multiplats than new IPs.
HmongAmerican  +   893d ago
yeah, I would rather play games from indie developers going to next gen, because this gen we get nothing new coming from big game publisher beside sequels and prequels.
Pintheshadows  +   893d ago
I think the FIFA move is good but in Europe FIFA is very much associated with Playstation. The shear amount of ads and the sponsorship of the CL won't be easily forgotten. I think the FIFA deal will help MS, no doubt, but i'm not sure it will be enough to win back many consumers. They did some real damage to themselves as a brand.

People can say they have recovered quickly (they have), but if you think it has been forgotten by the average customer then you are deluding yourselves. Consumers are like Elephants. They don't forgot and they have trunks. Long trunks. Grey wrinkly trunks.
NateCole  +   893d ago | Well said
Somethings never change i guess. Xbots again show their true colors. You guys would rather MS spend millions on withholding release of multiplat games on PS rather than MS spending the money to buy talent or fund new IP's.

Yet you guys have the nerve to call PS fans fanboys lol!

The fact that some of you are asking why this is bad shows your true nature or lack of maturity.

I'll make it simple for you guys

1. These time exclusive does not benefit any gamer. It only benefit true fanboys of a particular console for whatever reason.

2. This only gives 3rd parties more power with no value whatsoever to gamers and the industry as a whole. No new ip is created, now new people are hired, no new business. This is just money being paid to block the release on another console for a certain period of time.

Unless you work for MS or a fanboy you would support such dickhead move. The same applies to Sony.

I don't mind if a console holder hires or fund development using 2nd or 3rd parties talent like is the case with Sony with QD or MS with Epic. These deals hires people and create IP's that otherwise might not have been made through regular 3rd party development pipeline.

I do however have a big issue if a game that was planned by a 3rd party publisher to be multi-plat end up being time exclusive because a certain platform holder has paid money to withhold release on competing platform.
LoveSpuds  +   893d ago
Exactly how I feel about timed exclusives, cannot understand how anyone can see them as good for the consumer - have a 'well said' bubble!.

These moves are an act of desperation on MS's part because they have failed to invest in proper 1st party exclusives and are now frantically trying to catch up.

Its good to see FIFA (the organisation) showing good sense and refusing to favour one market over another. They realise the importance of pushing football into as many homes as possible, its just a shame some 3rd party developers are to greedy to see that treating sections of the community like a poor relation is bad for gaming as a whole.

EXVirtual  +   893d ago
I hate timed exclusives and Moneyhats.
MarkusMcNugen  +   892d ago
Timed exclusives are a mutual relationship between the console maker and the developer/publisher of said game. Obviously these are businesses and do not have to agree to any timed exclusive content if they choose not to. By releasing on one console earlier than another, they are practically cutting themselves out of a bunch of sales, so it only makes sense that the console maker would pay them a sum to try and make up the difference. Remember, all these companies are public. They have a board of investors to answer to. If it wont make them more money or increase projected sales in the future they would have no reason to commit to any exclusives.

Lets also not forget that there is another aspect to this that a lot of people dont seem to comprehend. A third party developer or publisher has incentive to help out the underdog. If timed exclusives can increase sales for a console, it in turn increases the user base for not only the console but their future games as well. It would only make sense to help a platform increase sales to indirectly increase their own sales as well.

To touch on your two points.

1) Timed exclusives certainly do benefit some gamers. Whatever platform the timed exclusive is on will see increased sales and the games for that platform can utilize that timed content. To say no gamers benefit makes no sense. I certainly benefited from the timed exclusive DLC for Skyrim.

2) Besides my points in the first two paragraphs about this, New exclusive IPs certainly are created from third parties.

Man, I just wish that both MS and Sony would leave third party publishers out of their business plans. On the MS side of the scale it just makes them look lazy. Instead of creating new and exciting games they throw money at third party devs to stop the release of games and DLC content on playstation consoles. MS had zero creative input, and they're still not the one taking the risk. EA and Respawn are crossing their fingers hoping it works out in the end.
As a playstation gamer, I have seen the exact same thing starting to happen with Sony.Exclusive Watchdogs,AC4, and Destiny content, and thats not mentioning all the indie titles that will launch(timed) exclusivley on PS4. We're all gamers in the end. I'm cool with 1st party exclusives, thats why you pick a machine in the first place, but when MS gets something like Titanfall, and the Playstation communtiy has to wait an alotted amount of time. Thats bullshit. MS shouldn't do it and neither should Sony. If it's made by a 3rd party publisher everyone should get to play it.
isa_scout  +   893d ago
How awesome would it be if consoles were like blu-ray players? They could both still be made by very different companies and have unique features and accessories, but both would play the exact same movies. If you want The Last of Us, Killzone, or Uncharted on Xbox, "Sure, go for it." and if I want Halo I could play it on a Sony branded machine. Everyoe says that a one console future would be bad because of the lack of competition, but when I look at the PC I can't help but think they're wrong. It would come down to the publishers competing with eachother to make the best games possible on all platforms.

EA teamed with MS when they had there original DRM box plan. This was why EA advised they were gonna drop the online key stuff. But now they realise the only way they can do this now is to sucker people into it. An outstretched hand offering a free Fifa 14, the other hand hidden behind the back with the DRM knife firmly grasped and ready to strike. If the x1 beats the PS4, you can bet the original plans return.
