Diablo 3: heaven or hell on consoles?

Diablo 3 reviews are lifting all over the shop, so as per normal VG247′s Dave Cook has jotted down his thoughts in article format. Does the game work on consoles? Proceed on to find out. (Diablo III, PS3, Xbox 360)

Diablo 3 on consoles is Diablo 3+ compared to PC.

Why do I say this? There is no market place, and therefore there is better itemization in game that isn't tied around the need to trade/sell with others to get full gear.

But, Diablo 3 is still Diablo 3 in design. The items are bland as you just design around primary stats and none of the items actually do anything else for you other than that primary goal.

I played the PS3 version briefly and it's a lot of fun playing 4-player local co-op. The game appears to be running at a very smooth 60FPS too, which was a nice surprise. I definitely enjoy the controls more, as it gives a much greater feeling of connectedness with the character than controlling an abstract mouse pointer that's used to "instruct" your character.

I've never been interested in the Diablo franchise before, but I'll probably end up getting this.

The addictive nature of a game like Diablo paired with couch co-op should give it some strong sales. Every Diablo game before 3 have had a huge online community that stayed around for a long time. (Years)

I think anyone who can sit down at a friend's house and join in may have a good incentive to buy it, too.

If it's as good I want it to be, I'll probably pay again for the ps4 version.
