Tales of Xillia Review - Gaming Nexus

From the review: "Tales of Xillia is most certainly a good game, but it's not the best the franchise has to offer. The scattershot story kept me from really enjoying the game, and I'm hoping the sequel can tell a more cohesive tale."

It's getting mid to okay reviews. To me Vesperia was awesome, one of the best in the tales series.

Would like to try this one out sometime.

mid to ok? I've seen a lot of 8.5's and such. That is a good score.

7.4 is a pretty good score, we need to stop giving every game that is decent a 9/10

I had a lot of fun with this game and can't wait for the sequel.

This game is great! Can't wait to see tales on the PS4.

Better than that to me. Best Tales yet. 9.8

Yeah. I've loved tales since I was a kid, next to FF to me. Just got Xillia and its by far my favorite yet. I try and sneak in even a half hour of battles before work just to hear the music and see the world. Haven't beaten it yet but I'm already pumped for 2 when that comes over next year :)

I don't know Hicken...Xillia story is awesome, but Destiny & Abyss still my favorite Tales in terms of story.

Xillia also don't have mini games or cameo from previous Tales (i'm dissapointed that i'm not fighting Stahn, Reala, or Cress in Xian Du colloseum). This feature is a trademark for Tales series. But Hideo Baba said he fixed this thing in Xillia 2.

But in terms of gameplay, Xillia are my favorite along with Graces f ^^

Scatter shot story? That is why you have to do the sub-events and playthrough it twice.

40hrs playthrough either means played on Easy mode or passed the majority of sub-quest/events losing you out on some of the side stories and character developments.

Looks like this reviewer is a newcomer for Tales series. He doesn't know that Tales series always made sub-events as important as main quest. Because in sub-events, they fleshed out more about the characters, world, etc. I even spend 60 hours+ (in moderate diff) to finished Milla campaign, because i want to search all sub-events.
