Nintendo will be launching a new portable gaming system in October. It's called the Nintendo 2DS. It's a 3DS without the 3D, and it's shaped like a thin piece of cake.
What the actual frick? OMG THINK OF THE CIRCLE PAD PRO FOR THAT THING!
HAHAA nintendo wtf? Made my day!! Actuay not, jak & daxter trilogy for plus members made my day <3
I am shocked by this but not as much as the design choice. It seems like an odd move considering the folding 3DS works so well
Jesus christ just look at that... Also why the hell is it not foldable? Like one guy said, it looks like one of the cheap devices Tiger Electronics used to make. What the f**k?
Guess today is April 1 2013 *Checks calendar* August 28 2013 .....Nintendo wtf
Next is the 1DS Here it is: http://www.defunctgames.com...
I... don't... understand. What is Nintendo doing?
So basically, it has an ugly, unfoldable design for a mere $40 less, and leaving you at almost $20 difference after buying the carrying case to avoid having your screens scratched up to death.
theyre making a DS for children ages 8 and under who can't use 3d effects due to it being harmful at that age and below
they are also making a cheaper alternative for people who could care less about 3d
https://www.youtube.com/wat... Dear God...it's real. It's REAL.
Is this real?
This does make sense with Nintendo trying to reduce the impact of the mobile market (and to a point the Vita price drop) by releasing an incredible cheap console that will shift Nintendo software. Saying that the name and the design will not help one bit. The name sounds like a previous version of the 3DS and the design is odd (a folding the 2DS makes more sense). They should fix those two areas
Is this the real life, is this just fantasy...
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOL. is this a really late april fools?
And it still doesn't have a second analog stick lmao
To be honest the 3DS games wouldn't support it. Everytime a new model of the psp came out I did scream WHERE OS THE SECOND STICK? Because some of the games could use it.
I'm all for nintendo handhelds, and even revisions of there existing consoles but this ? LOL
oh my f*ck
no 3d? nintendo 2D meh!!
I saw IGN post it in Facebook. Thought they were having a slow news day.
What is the point of this device?
Sorry Nintendo no offense but that looks like a piece of sh*t
This is going to bomb just as much as the Wii Mini...
I... stop it, Nintendo...
I'm not sure whether this is a stupider idea than the PSPgo or not? I just find it hilarious that their main aim is for kids under 7 to have a console to play. Here's an idea, MAKE A CONSOLE THAT ONE OF YOUR LARGEST AUDIENCES CAN USE IN THE FIRST PLACE! Nintendo are really losing their mind recently.
OMG!!! I never thought Nintendo would be this dumb to waste money on creating another product that will confuse the hell out of consumers (parents/grandparents) again. Nintendo should check into some sort of rehab program, they desperately need help.
Wii U: A wii add-on? 3DS:Oh so it's 3D cool. Is that a add-on to the DS? 2DS: oh so now it's 2D. Wait. I don't get it. What can it play? 2DS games wah? Nintendo needs a better naming team.
hmmm i think i want one sense my 3ds is no more
Which one of you put LSD in the Nintendo R&D's coffee machine again?
Reggie "it's the best thing since sliced bread"
Eeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww They should have just made a regular 3DS without 3D and be done with it.
Is this really real? So they are trying to make it look like a tablet? It's good they are lowering the price making it attractive this holiday season.
...It's Gameboy Micro...reincarnated...
At least the micro looked pretty damn sexy. This is just a giant wedge of cheese.
Honestly the 3D shit is terrible for your eyes anyway. Theoretically you could lose depth perception because of it. Basically, as we all know, one of our eyes is slighty skewed to allow for depth perception, but when we view stereoscopic 3D, particularly without glasses, our skewed eye is being forced to stop being askew- depth perception gone. I'd actually get one of these if I hadn't got a 3DS way back when. The size bothers me a bit though. I suppose the lack of a hinge means less of them will get snapped in two accidentally, but now it's less portable and the screens are at risk. Also, as is usual with handhelds, it's completely un-ergonomic, and probably gives you the worst cramps / pins & needles ever...
You really don't know the f**k of what you're saying right? 3d making depth perception gone? wow pls link to the study with that conclusions or stfu
Calm down, jeez. I said theoretically, and you'd need a lot of exposure. People with lazy eye can't see the 3D effect for instance, and also have poor depth perception. This is because one of their eyes is so off kilter. In order to actually see 3D effects with out glasses mediating it, our eyes need to adjust very slightly in order that we see a 3D image upon a 2D surface. 3D in reality isn't projected on a surface, so our eyes readjust to function in an actual 3D environment. Again I said theoretically, and will supplement that with the point that you'd need a lot of exposure. Perhaps also I shouldn't have said you lose depth perception altogether, but it can certainly be effected, much like the way lazy eye effects it. Here ya go, (although I don't think it's the original source I heard this from) http://www.audioholics.com/...
if it folded, I would consider it at that price, but its too big and cumbersome and hideous as it is for me to get.
Day 1. Jk
UUUm....wha? The 3D being removed I can see but what is up with that design? Part of the whole appeal of the DS and 3DS was being able to fit it in your pocket. I don't know...I just...
$130 just is not "budget" enough for this thing, when you can spend the extra 30 bucks and get one that folds and has 3d.... If I had kids, I'd still get them the regular 3ds over this.. I see a flop here, but Nintendo prints money, so we'll see, I guess..
I know everyone is hating on this thing and I totally agree the fact it isn't clamshell is ridiculous, but I have an eye condition and can only see things in 2D, so the 3D feature would be useless to me and is one of the reasons I haven't bothered with 3DS. This at the lower price point has me tempted. Yes it's ugly as fuck but I only play games at home anyway. Not going to contend with my Vita by a long shot but still, Nintendo have finally got me mildly interested.
This is for the casual and the younger audience that can't handle the 3D effect, since it's marked ages 7+.
