Battlefield Refuses to Follow Call of Duty's "Half-Assed" Formula

CCC Says: "Yearly releases among triple-A franchises have become sort of an epidemic. Several beloved IPs have flocked to the business model in recent years, and it doesn’t look like we will see the end of it anytime soon. But, in a recent interview with Videogamer.com, Battlefield 4 Executive Producer Patrick Bach laid to rest the speculation that the Battlefield franchise would be pursuing the annualization model to fill the gap left by cancelling its Medal of Honor series." (Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

"why even buy cod anymore?"

Because it's a very different experience, especially online. I'm not a fan, except for zombie mode, but obviously many people love the simplicity (or mindlessness depending on your desire to be diplomatic) of CoD.

COD still has a large fanbase though. I prefer BF but EA does it's own half assing at times too. Just look at what happened to the NBA live series and while Madden is great, it's still been basically the same game for years now. Not a lot of innovation going on there. Same with FIFA but I do get they are sports and there is only so much that can be done with that genre.

It's a shame those clowns turned a once great franchise into a yearly bro-fest. :/ I loved COD 1, 2, 4, and MW2. Of course, I'm more of a campaign person, but still.

despite my hate for the series after 4, I liked Black Ops' story a lot.

Lets' see, BF4 has a domination mode, an all infantry capture bases mode on small maps. Ahem, it is exactly the same as COD's domination game mode.
BF3 introduced close quarters, all infantry close quarters combat similar to COD's play style.

Half-ass you say?, it more like BF is copying the formula of success of COD.
