Microsoft announced in its quarterly earnings Thursday that it expects to sell 4 million more Xbox 360 units before the end of the year. That number is nearly double the amount of PlayStation 3 consoles Sony plans to ship.
better believe it sony.
I dont know?, if Sony was able to make more PS3's faster it would be closer because it's the launch of a new console. This is why i think Sony will never catch up to the 360 untill after the next Xbox comes out. Sony predicted 8mill by the end of 2008 an knowing Sony it will be far worse than their letting on.
Sony's predicted 6 million consoles sold by the end of the fiscal year (March '07). I would be very confused if they only predicted to sell 2 million more in the next 21 months after selling 6 million in 5 months.
Heard it from G4TV Attack of the Show has talked to Sony when they went to TGS. Sony always makes predictions.
PS3 JAPAN--N.AMERICA--EUROPE (T)OTAL ~12/2006 750,000 --900,000 -- 1,650,000 ~03/2007 1,080,000 --,850,000--1,200,000 (T) 4,130,000 ~12/2007 2,470,000--5,900,000--3,600,00 0 (T)11,970,000 ~12/2008 4,210,000--11,300,000--8,000,0 00 (T) 23,510,000 ~12/2009 6,050,000--5,400,000--12,600,0 00 (T)34,050,000 ~12/2010 8,120,000--18,700,000--16,100, 000 (T) 42,920,000. Predictions predictions predictions. You might be right maybe Sony will sell millions of IOU's.
So let me get this straight, Sony predicts 23.5 million by the end of 2008, not 8 million like you said? I'm slightly drunk, and you're confusing me.
n/m i cant read that. Do those numbers even add up??
Sony Corp., which slashed its profit forecast yesterday, said it may not reach this year's shipment target for the PlayStation 3 game console because of a parts shortage in the Blu-ray high-definition disc drive. Sony plans to ship two million PlayStation 3 players this year to the U.S. and Japan, and six million worldwide by March. The Tokyo-based company said yesterday annual profit would fall 35 percent to its lowest in five years on price cuts of the console in Japan and a recall of 9.6 million computer batteries. "The honest answer is it's more of a target'' for PlayStation 3 shipments, Jack Tretton, co-chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said yesterday in an interview. "Clearly we've had production issues.'' My advice on getting a PS3 at launch? Club those who have successfully pre-ordered the PS3 over the head, then devour their heart, thus absorbing their strength,
It is interesting what Sony is doing in order to stop people from buying a 360 because the PS3 was not available. IOU are a good Idea to lock people's money so they don't buy another console until they are able to produce it. I can see Sony's still have some tricks left.
yes, a piece of paper or a 360 with blue dragon. i wonder which they will choose
I say: MS triple the PS3 sales :) Millions of people this Christmas in search for a next gen console. Sony only has 500k units on the shelves. And the millions of people want to have the presents. They won't wait. And especially not in Europe. Christmas ain't in summer overhere Sony... Sony fans will be stepping in.
The only person that I know that has a 360 is thinking about trading it in for credit towards a PS3. Of course the 360 will sell more units this Christmas than PS3, the question is who will sell more next Christmas.
X360 sales are slowing and will be even worst when there is more choice, when PS3 & Wii are out.X360 has only just got to 6 million worldwide which is way off M$ forecasts of 10 million(who they kidding).PS3 & Wii will likely sell 6 million units each before march 2007.X360 will be lucky to get too 8 million in total by then.PS3 & Wii will both overtake X360 in sales by end of 2007.X360 & HD-DVD will flop just like Xbox.PS3/Bluray & Wii will succeed.Sony will remain No.1,Nintendo No.2 & Last will be M$.Blu-ray will be the Nex-Gen format winner helped by the fact that the PS3 include's it as standard and the sheer ammount of support for Blu-ray.
"PS3 & Wii will likely sell 6 million units each before march" Sony will have to make that many systems first before a statement like yours could be true.
Is that what you tell yourself every night before you go to bed? Your motivational prayer to get you through the next day? If you repeat it enough times you might end up believing it.
Wow... that was one of the most ignorant comments I have ever read without any basis in fact or reality. Come on.... you can sit here and make obsurd claims all day long about who will win the format war, Blu-ray or HD-DVD, or who will win the next gen console war, Sony or Microsoft, but in the end, only time will tell. Both companies have alot invested into this, the major difference is, Sony has alot more at stake if they lose than Microsoft does. The PS3 is counting on Blu-Ray. If HD-DVD wins out, Sony is going to take a huge hit that could cripple their ability to compete in future console wars. If Blu-Ray wins out, Microsoft is going to have a flop in the HD-DVD add-on drive, however, their console remains independant of that war and they can work on releasing a Blu-Ray add-on. Bottom line, regardless of which format wins or which console comes out on top, Microsoft isn't going to lose anything. They will make a profit off of their total console investment. Alternatively, Sony isn't going to do as well with the PS3 as they did with the PS2. There is stiffer competition and a less clear cut advantage to one system over another. Further, should Blu-Ray fail, Sony stands to have record losses and force them into hiding during the post-PS3 generation.
Spoken like a true fanboy! Ooo rah!
Plus a cheaper price point and Gears of War helps.
i've gotten a few people like this so far. yesterday at work I had a guy come in, interstested in preordering a PS3 (we did it yesterday at Toysrus) told him how fast we sold out. He then started asking about the xbox 360 and told him about it, showed him the games for it. Next thing ya know he's walking out with a brand new 360 with cvopies of Madden 07 and Saints Row.
Just joking ofcourse, everyone has their own taste..
nows hes gonna regret his decision after playing madden.
Madden '07 is one of the worst game examples I can think of...horribly buggy...
Ummmm really? I think any two year old with half a brain could have come to that conclusion.
ms aint short of cash now r they :) . some one on this site says they r in debt by some 4.7 billion lol what a fool DJ is ... :)
