Shorter Games, Faster Pace For Upcoming Command & Conquer

Game Front: "A faster pace and shorter matches are in store for the upcoming Command & Conquer, a reimagining of C&C Generals. According to the developers, the RTS, which is based in the near-future Generals setting, will reduce the average play session from over an hour to around 40 minutes in length." (Command & Conquer, PC)

Why reduce time? If the games good than more time the better!

They should take the series back to its roots c&c 1 and red alert were awesome (up to generals the games were good). Than it all got a bit silly and lost its way.

Extended time mode will come in a 1kb DLC pay full price.

Red Alert 1 and 2 were just so dam awesome.

Games I played the shit out of when I was young:

1.Age of Empires
2.Red Alert
3.Commandos 1,2,3 (not exactly strategy like the other ones)
4.Empire Earth
5.Dark Reign

Epic games back when games were made for gaming and not profit :)

Age of Empires and Dark Reign were my first strategy games. Commandos 1,2,3 were amazing, then it went downhill, fast.

If you played Generals, you would know. Many players either quit or surrender within the first 20-30 mins and that goes for competitive matches too.

But the new CnC isn't restricting you to play shorter games. Players have the ability to set what time they want for specific matches, following is from the same article:

"The team at Victory Studios intends to include selectable options to increase the length of matches for players who prefer longer games."

So yes, you could either do short games or infinite playtime games. Up to players to choose and i guess the more choice given to users, the better.

Problem is people just dont have time to play full on RTS huge games anymore. People get bored, they quit. And then ruin the game for others when they quit. Its kinda lame, but they kind of killed it with redalert 3.. i mean all these rts games tehse days dont have ore harvestars that have to go out and get money.. they have a building u place next to the ore... arent any quality rts games anymore.

I love the older C&C, I hope that you can choose how long of a match you want to play, and I am sure you can, I just hope that they kind of go back to their roots as far as gameplay

One of the reasons the early C&C games were so damn good was because of Westwood. I don't know if you remember but that greeny Westwood logo appearing at the launch of the game was the trademark for a successful game. Since EA took over it all became cartoonish and silly.

While Westwood made quality games without calculating every penny, EA did the opposite resulting in less than average games to continue the C&C legacy.

That being said, I really hope the new F2P model and the reimagined setting of Generals would be a huge success; already itching to get my hands on it.

It will be a success, there's a dedicated fan base following them from the F2P Tiberium Alliances to the previous Red Alert and Tiberium franchises.

I wont. They lost me when they made red alert 3. Ruined the series.
