They Don't Get It: Survival Horror Genre

TheGamingExperience says: "In the past couple decades worth of games, we have some rather epic launches in the genre: Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Space, F.E.A.R, Amnesia, Slender Man and the like. To be fair there have been more, but not quite enough of them."

The site claim Silent Hill downpour is a step in the right direction... HAHAHAHAHHAH

Horrible article.

TheGamingExperience3894d ago

Yea I forgot a key word in that one...

Silent Hill 1,2 and 3 were masterpieces.
The 4th game was decent but everything after that was just really bad fan service.

In my opinion of course :)

no offense but i agree with him bout downpour, downpour have a very limited ammo( n yes the combat sucks), exploration like the ol survival horror that we used to know(keys, notes n etc)n PUZZLE, yeah the story is kinda okay, the monster kinda dumb looking but the environment is highly detailed(full of stuff, things something like that) n atmospheric, but hey at least its better than resident evil 6 in terms of survival horror

The Evil Within looks so good...

That and Outlast just blow my socks off.

TheGamingExperience3893d ago

Both are very promising yes, but will they captivate, that environmental horror in actual gameplay?

OhMyGandhi3893d ago

silent hill 2 was a disappointment?
c'mon now...

TheGamingExperience3893d ago

In my opinion yes.. maybe it was because the first gave me such high expectations?

I can't believe this genre almost went instinct. There needs to be a burst of decent back to roots survival horror games, ones with a lil more depth than the point and hide ones that are so popular today on PC.

Combat is important to survival horror too it's just how devs need to implement it. Less ammo, less guns, emphasis on close combat with melee weapons. What's the one thing you don't want to do in a survival horror? Get close to what's pursuing you.

High hopes for The Evil Within at this point.

furneri3573893d ago

agree, survival horror that just involve hiding n run only is not really a survival horror, its a horror game not survival horror that need careful management of ammo n medicine, lone survivor is a survival horror game that was done right during this gen, n siren blood curse too, if they wanna make horror game that involve run n hide, i hope they make something like good ol run n hide clock tower n haunting ground, at least they have a lot of depth than just run n hide

he didn't even mention bout siren blood curse n lone survivor...

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
