Warframe's PS4 port keeps the action fast and the price low | Polygon

Polygon: "Warframe, Digital Extremes' free-to-play multiplayer shooter, seems a perfect fit for PlayStation 4. Its twitchy combat and complex controls are well suited for the console, which in turn is more conducive for the game's free-to-play business model than its predecessor ever could be."

Well the future PS4 players better get ready to farm and wait or spend $$$ to get mods, weapons and warframes.

One of my biggest gripes about this game they make you wait addition 12hrs to even 3days for your items to be made. Yes this is even after you done spend hours farming materials.

While most of the weapons in the market can be made through farming, however very few can be brought with credits. All warframes must be either farmed or brought with $$$/platinum.

I don't get why some gamers like yourself are just so impatient...

3 days is just for Warframe construction too. 12 or 24 hours for items or weapons. If there was no wait-time, am sure it'd just be easier for farmers and grinders to get everything done and/or exploit the future trading feature that has yet to be implemented, could only imagine seeing some guy who has a bot who farms materials over and over and can make ANYTHING and then trade it all for platinum or something.

Patience is a virtue.

"some guy who has a bot who farms materials over and over"

Seeing as Warframe isn't some MMORPG it would be hard to make a farm-bot to specifically farm a certain material. Enemies are in random places, level environment can change randomly and even mission objective can change randomly. Specific material drops(like neurodes, mods or blueprints) from a certain enemy/enemies is not always going to drop from that enemy.

It does infact have quite a decent amount of MMO properties....

Bosses in assassination missions are always in their own region and I'm quite sure if people can make a bot in Diablo 2 that can rapidly teleport to bosses like Mephisto, kill him(Remember, D2 had random generated levels too), pick up specific drops or ignore if nothing drops and repeats.... You're acting like this is impossible when such bots and scripts have been made so many times over for many games before this.

Enemies being in random places won't change a thing. Kill who's in the way, get to the boss, kill, grab, rinse and repeat.

but yes, Summed: "Diablo 2 says otherwise". If there's a will, there's a way. MMO-wise the game has the Clans(Guilds) which can go up to 1000+ members, in which we're given Events that can determine Clan power in numbers with 1-4 player Raid-like mission objectives being thrown into the fray. The only difference between this as an MMO and a regular MMO beyond the Leveling, Experience(Affinity and Mastery Level for your char/Warframe and Weapons) is that the player-count isn't Massive by a Worldly perspective but by a systematic perspective of players everywhere at the limit of it being a Coop game before it is an MMO. In my blunt honest opinion. It caters most genres and that's also what makes it interesting.

mark Cerny really did a great job, even Yoshida confirmed that teams are taking way less time to get the games running on ps4 compared to ps3

what that means to us? simply more GAMEs and better quality

OT: warFrame it's a GAME to look forward to

I wish people here and many other gaming sites would stop seeing free-to-play games as casual nonsense that is bad for the industry. I've been telling people for months that Warframe is an outstanding game, and does the F2P model perfectly.

You can unlock everything in the entire game without paying a penny, and that's the best way to do it. Sure you need to dedicate some time to it, but aren't people perfectly ok with spending 200 hours in games like Skyrim, GTA, and Dark Souls?

I've enjoyed this game more than a lot of AAA titles this year, it's just that good. I didn't enjoy Bioshock, Metal Gear Rising, or God of War as much as Warframe, now that's saying something.

I can't wait for PS4 to come so I can play this with my friends who can't play it on PC.

It looks great, really looking forward to playing this and war thunder when I get my ps4.
I don't have a good pc.

BiggCMan3894d ago

You can probably play it on your computer, it's really not that taxing and demanding. Give it a shot, and see if you can run it on low settings and a low resolution. Nothing to lose being free and all. There's a website, or you can get it on Steam.

Free to play games and indies go very well with the bigger blockbuster titles. F2P and indies can give a low cost entry point for people who can also become interested in the bigger titles too. That is one reason why I am so excited for the PS4 and Sony's move for more F2P and indie titles. I cannot wait to play this game and like you I wish people would stop just dismissing F2P and indies.

nirwanda3894d ago

Apart from the price difference and psplus this is the main reason I have chosen the ps4 over the xbone.

nirwanda3894d ago

Its a quite dated laptop with a celeron processor trust me it won't do gaming, and if a touch it before my girlfriend finishes her last module of her uni work I think she would kill me as she only has a few weeks left.

WeAreLegion3894d ago

Stay strong, bro. Those few weeks will be hell.

AllroundGamer3894d ago

The game is good, but maybe a bit too repetitive, mostly the levels, which feels like there are only 4-5 and variations of them.
