The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Review | Empire

After languishing in development hell for over seven years, it’s no surprise that this prequel to the beloved XCOM series has turned out to be a disappointing, schizophrenic mess. (PC, PS3, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, Xbox 360) 2/5

I like the general idea of this game, but the issue with it really is down to the chain around its neck. The 'XCOM' in the title.

Take that away and this game would have been able to be something new and decent. The XCOM title has weighed heavily on it though. Without it they probably could have had a coherent narrative, because as it stands, saying the story is odd, is an understatment.

I'm enjoying playing it though.

It's really not a bad game. Definitely needs polishing but it's not rubbish. People should stop judging games by their titles.
