Very little love and appreciation, however, has gone to the fictional athletes that starred in the games that helped pave the way for the juggernauts that EA and 2K put out today.
No more. This article represents the first induction group into the Fictional Athlete Hall of Fame, IGN's dedication to those fake video game characters who pushed their way into their hearts. Some were brilliant, some were miserable, but all were memorable. For this initial induction group, IGN will be focusing strictly on characters from NES games, with a 16-bit induction on its way in the future.
