EA Exec Says They May Develop For Wii U In The Future

Electronic Arts, who recently stopped developing for Wii U due to poor system sales, seems to be eager to bury the hatchet with Nintendo. Vice President of EA’s Sports division, Andrew Wilson, has stated that his company has a “tremendous relationship” with Nintendo, and assured gamers that Wii U games may very well be developed by EA in the not-too-distant future. Yes, because sales are currently through the roof for WiiU, lol. It was stupid to burn that bridge in the first place.
HarryMasonHerpderp  +   240d ago
Just waiting for the right amount of sales then.
I hate EA. They have no backbone.
jackanderson1985  +   240d ago
well would you rather them go bust and someone like activision take over their franchises like battlefield?
thezeldadoth  +   240d ago
you have to take risk at the beginning of every new launch to get games to make the console worth it. they were greedy
TheEnigma313  +   240d ago
Battlefield will head in that direction if they keep going the way they're going.
HarryMasonHerpderp  +   240d ago
They're not going to go bust by giving the WiiU a little bit of support. Also EA are as bad as Activision if not worse. At least Activision don't advertise DLC maps before a game is even released.
Make sure you order the premium edition! trololol money money money!

They were just waiting for that one year mark to say any major game of theirs is coming to WiiU. I wonder if Battlefront will come to WiiU. They have the time, the money, and likely engine will be optimized by then.

"May" ? i don't mind if they ignore it or don't , but they should already know and be knee deep into development if their support was real .

My guess is they will be back if it sells well over the holidays.

Just sell Nintendo crytek! Hurry before Nintendo figures out what the wiiu can really do!
MadMen  +   240d ago
The WiiU is dead, that would be a mistake.
KonsoruMasuta  +   240d ago
Madmen trolls another WiiU article.

Burden o' proof is on you on that one, Mr. MadMen.

Why do I get the feeling you're looking through stained glass?

This is not news- EA has said the same thing all along (since they announced they had no games in development): that they would begin developing again when/if it made business sense for them to do so- nothing has changed-

Most any dev/publisher is going to do the same- release games they think make good business decisions- with the occasional release just for good pr-

I can't honestly understand how EA can blame poor sales of shoddy ports (FIFA 13, Madden 13 missing features from other versions), or re-releasing ports of games that are significantly cheaper on other consoles with no real new features brought to the table (Mass Effect 3).

The only good game that has come to the Wii U with EA's name attached was Most Wanted. At least the developer actually tried to make the game better for the Wii U.

You have to realize with a small crowd of fans, people are a bit more selective. If a game is crap, they won't buy it. If its good, they all buy it.

Look at Vita. A good game releases, the Vita to game sales are actually rather good. A majority of the base buys it. A crap game releases and the next day the developer is crying "Vita isn't strong enough, sorry"

Thats whats happening with WiiU. EA tried to make a quick buck with crap ports, it failed, and its the WiiU's small install bases fault in EA's eyes. Don't worry though, same thing happened to PS3 early on. Then eventually developers figured out "hey if we actually try, it sells!"
FAT MAN GO BOOM  +   240d ago
God I hope not... EA take you sh*t free to play games and stick them up your bunghole...
Thelastlivingbot  +   240d ago
EA could have used this winter as an oppurtunity to drop all their sports franchises with use of the gamepad. The WiiU has no sports games, and they didn't want to take advantage of this. Poor decision.
ForROME  +   240d ago
The WiiU is crap, seriously, why do people even fight for this thing anymore, its just one big mistake the only ones not admitting it are Nintendo Loyalist

when comparing the Wii to the WiiU its like night and day.

PS4 will mop whats left of this thing up.

The PS4 will take off with sales initially and then fall by the wayside for a while before picking up again. Whilst the PS4 falls by the wayside for a while, the Wii U sales will pick up due to the exclusives coming out on it, and increased user word of mouth reporting that the Wii U was surprisngly more enjoyable to play than the "next gen" consoles.

Watch this space.

EA's lies have hurt WiiU greatly. They are the ones who spread the garbage that the Next Gen Game-Engines won't run on WiiU.

Then they put bad ports on WiiU and went back on their promise for WiiU Support.

There are some good studios under their publishing umbrella and the Sports games (good for base) but I would rather, if possible, the WiiU be a smashing success without them.
ZeekQuattro  +   240d ago
EA is so phony. So now we go from unprecedented support to today where apparently EA & Nintendo have a tremendous relationship. The same tremendous relationship that saw EA drop support for the Wii U and all but ignore the top selling 3DS. Its any wonder the company is in dire straights as it is what with all the lay offs, studio closings & the hiring of a new CEO. The funny thing is when they return their games are going to sell even worse on the Wii U than before. Congrats EA you deserve it. lmao
BOWZER35  +   240d ago
Maybe if EA decided not to bash on Nintendo, and released quality games for it, people would be excited.

EA is just waiting for sales to pick up
