PS4 interview: Sony discusses release date, Vita discount at gamescom

Digital Spy "Sony's gamescom press conference saw it unveil a number of key partnerships, price cuts for the Vita and PS3, and of course, an all important release date for the PS4." (PS Vita, PS3, PS4)

"Is there any particular reason why Europe has a two-week delay?
- "It's simply round production, in which there's a finite factory output, so it's easier to phase it and therefore have healthy volumes in both regions. Put the initial slug into the US, and then it gives us an opportunity to catch up and have extra production ready for the European launch date." "

There you go EU guys. Extra production for you!

Scant consolation, my friend. But we can wait.

It will only really hurt if the XB1 releases on the 15th in Europe. Those will be 2 weeks of torture and not-so friendly banter!

It's maybe 'scant consolation' for the early adopter, but for long term success in Europe, it's imperative to have more stock. This is a smart move.

Agreed man! Most of my mates are getting PS4s here in the UK. There are some getting an Xbox One though... Can't wait for all the good ol' chats about the 2.

Better than waiting until 2014 for an Xbone!

At least it's better than the delay for the PS3, it was something like 6months last time, stupid blu-ray diode problems....

I wonder if the deal with Virgin extends further than just broadband. Sony will want an easy way of providing IPTV and perhaps Virgin will welcome a slice of that pie.

The biggest thing I am happy for is the mention that the memory card prices haven't actually been dropped like people say they have, if they drop enough I am most definitely buying a vita.
vigilante_man  +   324d ago
On Amazon.co.uk the 16GB card is now £25. I paid £39 2 months ago. The 64GB card has gone up but I believe low stock is the problem.
RiPPn  +   324d ago
I don't think there is a 64GB vita memory card, if there was I would be all over it unless the price was insane.
vigilante_man  +   324d ago
Sorry! The 32GB has gone up from £54.99 to £64.99.

The 16GB card is okay at £25..

Vita will succeed.

Great to hear the release date of the PS4 so I know when I can get my hands on it. Sony needs to do something about the price of the PS Vita memory price...it's way too expensive.

still nothing about Asia release, better not be 2014!
