PALGN: Grand Theft Auto IV Preview - Taking to the streets with some online multiplayer

PALGN writes: "We're not sure why no one has thought of it, but we've always wondered about the potential of a MMO game based on open city where players play as various underground institutions. Or maybe they have thought of it, but have some inconvenient obstacles in the way of developing it. Something like a Grand Theft Auto MMO? Well, even though we're going to have to wait and see if something like that is ever to eventuate, in the mean time, why don't we talk about the multiplayer for Grand Theft Auto IV? We were recently lucky enough to get invited to a hands-on session with just a few of the many upcoming multiplayer modes for Rockstar's monster hit.

Rockstar is a developer that has always been good at keeping their secrets intact. In the familiar shrouds of chaos and controversy, it's only in the last few days that concrete information has been trickling out about the multiplayer. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories first tinkered with some real multiplayer action, but you could only get it on the PSP version. Now with the advent of high-speed internet connections and powerful 'next-gen' consoles, Rockstar look to have built on their foundations for their latest venture. While there are a heap of them, we got to check out three of the game's multiplayer modes."
