'Minecraft' on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita being handled by same Xbox developer

XMNR: 4J Studios, the developer behind the Xbox 360 port of Minecraft, confirmed Wednesday that it is handling the upcoming Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita versions of the immensely popular open-world sandbox game. (Minecraft, PS Vita, PS3, PS4)

Not surprising.

Good start on PS4.
It is better idea to make it on next gen console, than old gen because old gen will end, next gen will start.
fredrikpedersen  +   744d ago
It will be on Vita and PS3 also
JBSleek  +   744d ago
This on Vita seems interesting. I'll be buying Minecraft for a fourth time lol.

Oh its on VITA too? Sweet. It's the full fledge console version right? Don't want that "Pocket edition" junk.
Th4Freak  +   744d ago
I really doubt Sony will do something that dumb and considering that the same team that developed the Xbox 360 version will handle the PSV version its safe to say that it will be a complete Minecraft experience.
Queasy  +   744d ago
The Vita has 512MB of Ram and 128MB of VRAM so it should be able to perform the equivalent of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.

The Pocket Edition is "junk" because of memory limitations on smartphones and tablets. Even the console version is limited when compared to the PC because of memory though. However, PS4 and Xbox One shouldn't have that problem.
sonicjam  +   744d ago
I rather get the PS4 edition over the other versions because that version will be a lot better. Besides you can remote play the PS4 version.

Honestly, I think, come Black Friday, not only will I be coming back with my first PS3 (dat generation-long list of exclusives doh), but also a Vita.
It's not just for the idea of a proper (hopefully full-fledged) version of Minecraft on the go, but with Persona, Killzone, Borderlands 2, the list of free games with the + service and the talk of many quality jrpgs on their way, I feel the time has come to finally drop the cash.
I was always big on what the system could be, and I am seeing enough glints of it to make the purchase worthwhile, I think.

Best thing anyone has said today! The more people buy it the more games come out for it!
CaptainPunch  +   744d ago
Imagine a Minecraft Vita bundle, that would sell like crazy!
MasterCornholio  +   744d ago
I never played Minecraft but i love all those videos of constructions that people make with it especially the Star Ship Enterprise.

$$$$$$$
sigfredod  +   744d ago
i know i´m minority on this aspect, but i was never drawn wathsoever by minecraft hype, and is a tittle i would care the less coming to PS brand, but its ok the more the merrier
Tetsujin  +   744d ago
If Minecraft didn't give me headaches I'd actually give it a shot; since I can't even watch it above 10 min I have to find something else to play.
Goro  +   744d ago
Can't wait to play this on Vita along with BL2 and maybe Rime
r21  +   744d ago
Rime is confirmed only for PS4, for now at least. However, BL2 and Minecraft on my vita, goodbye life!
Goro  +   744d ago
Ahhh really? that's what i though but somebody on PSNP told me it was on Vita, looks like Vita is capable of running it
Starbucks_Fan  +   744d ago
If the PS4/Vita versions of Minecraft work together I will buy both.
GraveLord  +   744d ago
Shame on Microsoft for keeping Playstation fans from enjoying this game. Greedy bastards!
SillyYou  +   744d ago
Lol, i think in a few months, everyone that likes gaming has already played Minecraft once.

Its on
PC
Xbox 360
Xbox One
PS3
PS4
PS Vita
Android
IOS.

Holy moly.

It's official
I'm super-super-super-glued to my Vita by an invisible super-super-super-glue.
Aleithian  +   744d ago
Day 1. Screw the other PS4 games.
bakasora  +   744d ago
Im baffled. What took them so long to finally decide to bring it over.
hazelamy  +   743d ago
most likely an exclusivity deal with ms.
vigilante_man  +   744d ago
Vita version will be awful if it is just a port. If they spend some energy making it touch-screen friendly then it may work..
hazelamy  +   743d ago
there's already a touch screen interface option on the pc version, so i expect the Vita version will feature touch screen options, at least for the inventory and crafting.
