Damn. Dem's fightin' wurds.

In all seriousness, it's good Nintendo keeps taking steps to make indie development easier. They and Sony are thinking very swiftly and progressively.

CaptainCamper1611d ago

Do they have any choice? They fail to attract the numbers for the big IPs and although Nintendo have some great games, they need something fresh to bring to next-generation :D

"They fail to attract the numbers for the big IPs"

Are we talking about the same company here? The company that sold 34 million copies of Mario Kart on the Wii and 10 million copies of Super Mario Galaxy? Not one of Nintendo's major IPs have released yet on the Wii U.

CaptainCamper1611d ago

My comment was in regards to the big console IPs that aren't tied to Nintendo. There are a ton of great games that sell well on Xbox/PS and hardly sell at all on Nintendo platforms. There's even more that don't even bother to release on Nintendo.

@CaptainCamper - easy for a game to sell well on a console that has over 70 million users compared to a system that only has 4 million (PS3/X360 to Wii U install base).

Sorry Nintendo fans, everyone is too busy in the "Who won Gamescon" articles to even notice this news.

Kevlar0091611d ago

If you haven't noticed, everything with PS4 in the title has hit over 300* the past week

It doesn't matter how easy it is. All that matters is the sales. If digital sales on the WiiU are low. Than indies developers aren't going to bother porting their games.

PopRocks3591611d ago (Edited 1611d ago )

Making development easier will increase games and therefor sales. There ya go.

Neonridr1610d ago

several indie games have sold very well on the eShop.

negative1611d ago

I would still like a Wii U at some point.

Sincere01211611d ago (Edited 1611d ago )

gud idea as it will be best console on the market for the next 7-8 years

Hufandpuf1611d ago

WTF is Nintendo even doing. They have barely any presense at all of the major shows so far. This is not going to go well for them in the long-run. You can only sell Pokemon and mario for so long.

PopRocks3591611d ago

...That's why they are making it easier for indies to make games on their system?

Hufandpuf1611d ago

Which gets them in the clear how? Their competition is doing the same thing and if the hype for them is any indication the indie support will be much stronger on the higher selling system. Indies tend to develop for platforms that will get them the maximum return. If no one goes out to buy a Wii U, then Indies won't want to develop for it.

Neonridr1610d ago

I don't see article after article about indie developers praising how easy it is to work with Sony or Microsoft..

AWBrawler1611d ago

nah Pokémon and Mario seem damn near immortal. lol Still love both franchises as well as all the imaginative 3rd party exclusives that land on Nintendo Consoles

yabhero1611d ago

well as all the imaginative 3rd party exclusives that land on Nintendo Consoles
unfortunately there are hardly any of those on WiiU... third parties, imaginative or not tend to skip Ninty

AWBrawler1611d ago

Scribblenauts is on Wii U and 3DS. one of my favorite franchises, and Sonic Lost Worlds is also exclusive. I love Sonic. Wonderful 101 looks pretty creative as well.

Like I said. Their imaginative 3rd party games

Realplaya1611d ago (Edited 1611d ago )

At the moment they have sold over 172 million pokemon games so it's safe to say they are doing just great. Oh yeah and X and Y preorders are killing right now.
