Cool, all new PS owners will get to see what makes PS+ so awesome.

Launching right as the weekend starts and giving out PS+ so people can play online through the Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S. is just amazing.

At least now people will get an understanding of what PS Plus is.

They have to if they want to play multiplayer anyway yet it is still good for them to see the service.

This.

2 weeks is enough to ease you into PS+ and get you to know the IGC.

This was the right move.

They burned MS bad at the end

"unlike others we have been consistent"
"we're launching in 32 countries"
"14 days PS+ free trial to all new subscribers"

could also add all that
"we've created the most powerful console"

Instead of changing policies like other companies, we have stuck with our visions by creating a service that is of value and fair to the consumer.

Talk about a low blow. :D

One thing I will say is that I'm glad M$ has shown their gamers what to expect for the first full year of XB1, while Sony is sticking to launch only. I don't have a problem with that, but I'd like to know what there's to look forward to at least for the first few months of 2014 (inFamous but what else?).

Anywho congrats to both of them, and M$ might get their original (MS) back from me if they keep their act together.

thats exactly what i was talking about in a post just before the announcment.

I knew they wouldnt be able to resist.

its all lies anyway. They just changed their policies but without announcing their intended plans because of what happened to MS at E3.

But, they are continuing to play the fanboy war game,

S.A.D.

Awesome news. Could have made it 1 month free or something but this is still awesome news. I have yet to join Plus so I will be doing it on my PS4. Thank you Sony

Its better than those 48 hour Gold weekends M$ gives.
markbob  +   563d ago
MS give you 1 month of Gold with a new console

but it still nice that Sony is allowing us to see the benefits of Plus

Done and done. Nice conference, indies are really doing it on the PS4.

Can't wait.
optimus  +   563d ago
if they really want to hook people right away they should do 30 days for the 1st 3 months it goes on sale... new system, new servers makes me think there will be bugs in the 1st 2 months or so...i'll wait for a good 6 months before i decide to buy.
_FantasmA_  +   563d ago
Bugs are given. But you're missing out on the experience of getting the console before everybody. All your friends and family will turn to you to guide them through a new era of gaming. For a while, you will be the one to envy with your new console and its cool to get online at the same times as everyone else. The game is fair because when you start up Killzone, the battlefield is fair because nobody knows the maps and you have a chance to get good before the PS4 reaches millions of homes.

You're assuming i'm a teen and a hardcore gamer, which i'm not. I'm a casual gamer, very casual...i go days, weeks and even months without playing any games and when i do, i tend to spend most of the time playing pinball fx2...Plus i don't buy games focused on online play. I buy them for the single player story...most of my friends are married with children and barely play themselves if at all, unless it's some blockbuster game we are all curious about and even then it's not a priority and we wait for the bargain bin...overall, my days of buying new systems day 1 are over...much less since a lot of the games i'm interested in will be released for the current gen so i'm in no rush to upgrade anytime soon.
