If you get your readiness level high enough in Mass Effect 3, *spoilers* you can see Shepard taking in a breath of air under some rubble. It would depend on whichever ending is canon.
I came here to say the indoctrination theory absolutely solidified the ending of this trilogy for me in the best way

Yeah I saw that at the end of my play through as well. I think they will bring Shepard back….. or at least a mutant version turned villain. Lol
video games are eight hours long? not the games i play lol kingdom hearts, final fantasy, zelda, pokemon,fable aren't rpg's great heck skyward sword took me a GOOD 40 hours to finish with 100% KH2 took me around 24 hours and im closing in on 90 and not at 100% yet
Is this guy insane? He clearly is not a gamer. Give me a 20, 30, 40 hour+ game over a suggested "3 hour game" any day.
I think he is missing a big point too, cost! Video games retail at around £40, and for that we expect something longer lasting in entertainment than a £10 movie on DVD!
