The momentum of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, now in its second week, has pushed the PSP to the top of the Japanese hardware chart for a second week. The latest Media Create figures show that the PSP sold 120 964 units this week, only marginally lower than last week's 129 986 units.
The Nintendo DS takes second place on the chart with 55 190 units, roughly 3 700 units lower than last week's 58 916 units. The Nintendo DS's somewhat dismal performance when compared to sales of the PSP means that the PSP overtakes the DS's year-to-date sales. The year-to-date sales of the PSP now stand at 1.23 million while the DS trails with 1.11 million.
The Wii sold 44 618 units this week, also marginally lower than last week's 48 785 units. The PS3 took fourth place on the chart with 11 303 units, slightly more than last week's 11 206 units, while the PS2 sold 10 423 units, also slightly up from last week's 10 296 units. The Xbox 360 took last place with 1 452 units, down from last week's 1 547 units.
