Producer Yale Miller on Call of Duty: Ghosts “Redesign”, Dynamic Maps, and Killstreaks

CraveOnline writes: "Call of Duty: Ghosts Producer Yale Miller had a lot to say when we sat down to speak with him at this week's Call of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer Reveal. When asked to describe the game in one word he said "new", and went on to explain the bold reengineering of Call of Duty's formula. He even explains why Call of Duty: Ghosts is so successful, directing attention at the development team's uncompromising passion." (Call of Duty: Ghosts, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

"New"

HAHA Right
GentlemenRUs  +   242d ago
Only thing I see that is new is the UI/GUI...

Everything else though, Just the same with rehashed stuff.

As if BF4 is doing a lot of "new" things. If you want to hate on COD, also hate on the other sequels that, by far, aren't as innovative as most people claim.
AO1JMM  +   242d ago
Assume much? Who mentioned BF4 besides you?
USA007  +   242d ago
For consoles BF4 is getting a major upgrade now that it has PC features that changes the game immensely if you play BF3 on any console.

Destruction is way better, not just scripted events. Better suppression.

@AO1JMM
Yes, it is most definitely an assumption. It is also the most logical one, since this year it's once again BF vs. COD and most fanboys of the former party tend to glorify BF4. I am looking forward to it just as much, but I also laugh a little inside when I see so many features from BC2 and BF2 return that people were screaming for all these years in BF3, yet it's claimed that BF4 is doing new things. Right...

@USA007
Effectively the only difference is 64 players and though this is new for console it's not something new to the series. Name me one thing about BF4 that is brand spanking new and changes the way the game plays. Most of the stuff that has been added comes from BC2, like the destruction, C4 and sensor grenades.

-counter knife
-5 man squads
-peak over obstructions
-canted iron sights with scopes
-new attatchments/ pistol attatchments
-commander mode app
-dynamic weather and time
-water physics

Along with all the things brought back from previous games. I would also call the destruction different than BC2, but because there was destruction I won't add it.

@USA007
Those are fine additions, but, in my honest opinion, only the five man squads make a tremendous difference. To be fair, I had actually forgotten about that and it's one of the many reasons I am excited for BF4.

Can't we all just agree that BF4 and Ghosts are carefully tweaked mixes of the best games in their respective series? I am actually glad that BF4 is taking lessons from BC2 and that Ghosts looks and, as far as I can tell, feels more like MW2 again.
USA007  +   242d ago
I can agree that these are both finely tuned games, but I feel COD has had too much time/games to fine tune itself. BF games are constantly different and changing while COD has had 7 iterations of the same game with only minor additions and are otherwise rehashing/reskinning the game before it. It was nice for a while, but many of us have grown tired and will only come back to COD if a major change occurs

Everyone just whines but there are some new things in there.

The field orders are pretty cool and not something I've personally seen before. I think the "destruction" is beyond silly, I mean I guess it's ok but I would call it more intractable maps than destruction.

The perk system is an intersting idea the way they are going about it and cranked is an interesting if not flawed mod for team deathmatch.

Plus, they've invented teleporting dogs...so that's kinda cool.

It still looks fun to play and I'll probably pick it up at some point (it's not like COD doesn't keep it's playerbase for a while)

I will own both because they each have their own place in my game time.
