Is Pokemon Becoming Digimon?

Metal Arcade: Joe Smith writes:

It’s a complaint heard since the dawn of the franchise: is Pokemon becoming Digimon? A new feature in Pokemon X and Y might fuel the argument.

Earlier in the month a new mechanic was revealed for the upcoming Pokemon X and Pokemon Y - the ‘mega evolution’ transformation, a Super Saiyan-like boost in speed and power for many of the franchise’s forgotten characters, and even some of their most recognizable. It should come as no surprise that two of the Pokemon most widely accused for being Digimon-like, Blaziken and Lucario, get access to this new evolution. I know...not that digimon is bad. I actually like it a lot. Digimon world 1 is still one of the best games in the PS1 era.

Pokémon becoming like digimon is actually a good thing.

Not really. Pokemon tends to take things that real animals do and use those in the games. For example with evolution:

Caterpie (Caterpillar)
Metapod (Cacoon)
Butterfree (butterfly)

An example of Megalution could be the Stegosaurus. Where the spikes on its back flare up as a warning to an other dinosaur acting aggressive towards it... MEGALUTION!!!!

I know its not quite the same. But its an example of how creatures in a sense can temporarily change when they are fighting :D

The difference with Digimon is that its all digital. You can say the concept is the same but deep down they're very different. You can argue Light-speed and warp are the same thing, but deep down they're not (another bad example but still I hope it gets the point across).
