This is gonna break records and put 3DS on top of the charts for awhile. Even tho 3DS is already on top.

TongkatAli1799d ago

Multiply that number by two, yup.

Tewi-Inaba1799d ago

It's world wide release too. and this is just Japan

GreenRanger1799d ago

These games are gonna be sick!

ABeastNamedTariq1799d ago

The Y version legendary Pokemon looks so cool haha..I really need to get a 3DS soon! :/...I'm missing out..

Abriael1799d ago (Edited 1799d ago )

Funny enough, it seems that X is selling more in Japan.

Wouldn't know why.

ABeastNamedTariq1799d ago

Hmm... I don't know either. I like the X one too, but the Y one is so raw and badass lol. Xerneas (is that what it's called?) looks cool, but it reminds me too much of Dialga and those four..justice force (I don't know..) Pokemon from that one Pokemon movie I saw when I was bored.

exfatal1799d ago

I think it the fact that the new legendary is a dragon type killer aka fairy. instead of the tired old flying type legends

Name Last Name1798d ago

X is selling more because people want to have Xerneas, the first Fairy legendary. Add that to the dissapointment that Yvetal is just Dark/Flying and not Dragon.

TekoIie1798d ago

Version exclusives are going to be what influences my choice :)

Otherwise I prefer X because the legendary is a fairy type.

Misaka_x_Touma1798d ago (Edited 1798d ago )

First Version always sells better.

Wow, those are some pretty great numbers for such a short time span.

I don't know how this will do in relation to other Pokemon games in terms of sales. The 3DS has a smaller install base, so I don't know how much that will effect things. My guess is over 5 million. I don't think that it'll reach Pokemon Black's 14 million, but I think it can realistically beat what Black 2 did, which was 6 million.

GeckoPutt1798d ago (Edited 1798d ago )

I, personally, can see it overtaking Black & White's sales of 14 million. My reason for this is that whilst it is an entirely new generation (as Black and White were) it this is the most innovative The Pokémon Company have ever been in regards to advancing their series; we have never seen this much advancement in one generation before - I mean, Generation III to IV was a large(ish) jump, but this is just ridiculously good.

Personally, I see this keeping the 3DS at the top of its market for a good while. The figures so far are showing how popular the game is - fortunately, The Pokémon Company are doing everything right so far:

. A worldwide release;
. Constant, steady flow of new information to keep people buzzed;
. Enhanced graphics and motion (8-way movement);
. Moving away from sprites to full 3D renders;
. An introduction of a new type which hasn't been done since Generation II;
. Brave and daring new features (Mega Evolution);
. Exciting new orchestral music due to the advancement of the 3DS' hardware;
. Release Day Wi-Fi Event (Special Torchic);

There hasn't been this much buzz and this much excitement for a Pokémon game for a very VERY long time, and I think that The Pokémon Company knew this, even the first announcement was incredible. Such a long trailer to keep us going whilst they get the game done - It wasn't a simple vocal announcement that would clearly make some people go, "yeah, whatever..."; it really hooked everyone due to amount of content we received.

I applaud them, I really do, and I hope that these games sell like cocaine.

Nintendo needs to put Pokemon on Wii U.

Y_51501798d ago

Haha there is Pokemon Rumble U!
Yeah I don't think it's funny now that I thought about it...
