Xbox 360 continues to maintain its lead in the U.S. console market. Xbox 360 sold 107,000 units, more than any other console in the U.S., making July the 31st consecutive month Xbox 360 was the best-selling console in the U.S.

The combined marketshare of
all those countries listed is a fraction of the largest console gaming market in the world, the US!

In addition, NPD is considered as official as it gets when it comes to sales numbers. I'm not aware of the other countries have similar numbers released.

If not, then what are the news to report?

We do get numbers from Japan, every now and then, but we don't say "oh, my God, Japan isn't the world!".

individually they're smaller, but combined, the world's market is larger than the US.

having a product available on a global scale doesnt mean it will sell. its just there. they should make a effort to sell it in foreign lands. looking at the sales, the entire planet doesnt seem to care about xbox games other than america. giving the benefit of the doubt, the next in line is UK than Canada.

im just saying microsoft should make more variety of games other than halo and gears. cuz different ppl want different games.

they should also make some games themself than just relying on 3rd party companies to make games for them.

i have a xbox360. there's nothing to play on it since 2011 other than kinect games. so im currently collecting old games that are dirt cheap cuz there was plenty of games from 2006-2009 for the 360.

Kreate discussing foreign sales in a NPD thread, where NPD has officially been used by both companies in the past to reference sales data. Yet you rattle off all these other countries and provide not 1 link to backup your claim....sure simple math points to ps3 is doing better overall in those regions for year end totals but there is nothing that says by how much in each country and for how long in other words 360 might have been up a few months out of the year in a couple locations but maybe ps3 wins big on holidays without specific data we cant compare apples to apples with NPD info. oh I know why don't I just take your word for it.

Im actually very curious because its a given Japan identifies itself with a Japanese centric gaming culture that nintendo and sony thrive in but I've never seen anything specifically for the other countries.

Its first place in the worlds biggest video market. 2nd/3rd place is debatable since Nintendo has thrown in the towel already with the Wii and now focused on the Wii U after almost 3 years of declining sales. It's not a smart ideas, although Sony hasn't confirmed their launch countries yet, I'm pretty sure they are launching in those Tier 2 countries MS didn't find so important.

You see launching in the big markets + the smaller markets is an even better idea as you can get your console a worldwide presence. PS4 seems to be doing pretty well in the US already and that is just with pre-orders.

MS NEVER said anything about those countries not being important...the simple fact that they attempted to launch to begin with says they are important....there is a lot more going into a launch than we may think...At first XB1 was getting smashed by PS4 and now they are gaining more support, but maybe based on initial pre-orders MS found that they couldn't support all pre-orders and those countries had the least...MS Will launch in those countries, but it might just take more time.

Do you take this personally or something? It seems to really hit hard to see Microsoft with some type of success. Lets put this in perspective.

Nintendo has been a beast in the gaming biz since the 80's. Known brand...

Sony was on it's second system with the PS2. Dominated that era in sales..including the US.

Then comes along the software based Microsoft. Everyone knew they didn't do hardware so how could they compete against the veterans Nintendo and Sony(at the time they were on top of the world and Sony hardware was at its most popular)?

The first Xbox did terrible...what was..24 million consoles sold? Sounds about right. Finished a distant third.

They release their second console and despite having territories where it doesn't sell, which in my opinion negates the year head start, ate into a huge chunk of Sony's PS2 era install base.

You look at it as being in 3rd place.

I look at it as them capturing oodles of Sony's install base in only their 2nd generation in gaming. Also with Sony's brand name being what it was. That's significant to establish yourself against the likes of Nintendo and Sony in only your second gen in the gaming biz.

It also doesn't take a genius to see that Microsoft will never outsell Nintendo or Sony worldwide because of places it simply doesn't sell well..IE Japan.

They didn't blow anything in terms of solidifying themselves...in that short amount of time they've forced Sony to establish online, trophies, branching out the system from more than just games, etc.

Your comment about bragging...Nintendo and Sony are both Japanese companies...so that in itself should tell you why they do the things they do when it comes to publicity. Culture..Culture...Culture.

Sony dominated the ps2 era with 150 million + consoles sold worldwide. Now with the 360/ps3 sales are basically neck and neck. I call that a monumental effort on Microsoft's part. 3rd place? LOL. Last gen they came in second, this time they're in last after having came out a year early. M$ is the laughingstock of the gaming universe. And this upcoming generation will be even harder for them. Nintendo beat them in the casual market with the Wii and Sony beat them with hardcore games and with variety on the PS3.
