Blog.Eu.Playstation: Hey everyone! My name is Kevin Oxland and I’m creative director at Spiral House. I’m very excited to be here today to finally announce our new game with Sony for the PlayStation Vita. Please welcome PlayStation Vita Pets!
Interesting, the Vita needs a game like this.
That is exactly what I said on the previous story. Nintendogs on the DS sold incredibly well (2nd best selling. Sold twenty odd million copies). On the 3DS it sold almost 3.5 million. Sony just never had this type of game which it needed. If they reduce the price and advertise this it could sell some Vitas. It isn't exactly like these games cost a great deal to make and it broadens the Vita's market which until now has been very focused on us. Remember gamers, the casual/family friendly market is a big one. Not every release should be for us
Despite it being a blatant Nintendo Dogs ripoff; if it can help shift Vitas & show 3rd party dev's that theres a market for their games on the console, then it can only be a good thing.
Nintendogs on the DS sold incredibly well (2nd best selling. Sold twenty odd million copies).'' This game is almost 100% guaranteed to be worse selling than NIntendo dogs.
Looks fun eh. but hopefully Sony stops riding nintendos joy-stick.
@bullymangLer You like nintendo very much, dont you? Now tell me why Nintendo had to get Bayonetta eh? Why are Nintendo riding the "joy-stick" of Sony, Microsoft and the fanbase that made the game? Let me guess! "Looks fun eh" Nintendo trolls are the worst.
(protagonist) trash food = trash mind you :/
^bully Exactly what difference does it make to you? You can still play your Nintendogs, nobody's stopping you... For Vita owners, there's nothing wrong with having a copy of this to shut the kids up on a journey. Seems a welcome idea to me.
yep and it looks fun . jus saying sony needs to be more original with their exclusives no? shame on Sony for trying to compete with the big N in such lazy way. Just remember this, Nintendo is king of gaming, sony is not (:
If Call of Duty dog isn't in it, I'm not buying.
Not the one with the amazing textures, woof! The dog runs away at the end, so sad :-(``` ` On a more serious note the game looks pretty good for what it is.
bahahahahahaha!! oh man, you drones are HILARIOUS! XD
this is a joke, right? right?!?
its a game that caters for a certain (and very large) audience. No pretending its not blatantly copying Nintendogs but its a good idea for the vita.
That very large audience is already on Nintendo, and I don't see them switching over or purchasing a VITA for this game. The VITA was advertised as a hardcore gamer device, and games like this are certainly welcome, but I worry about its success. I don't mind the game-- you can't blame Sony for a developer wanting to make a game for them. I just really dislike the talking pets, it kills the charm for me. Hopefully it's a profitable game, and if an audience is found for it, more power to Sony, fans, and the developer.
Wow this is lame. No one would care about this normally but the problem is the Vita NEEDS some big games before releasing stuff like this. We have Killzone and Tearaway which look great but honestly there needs to be a lot more to look forward to.
This is the studio that did eye pet so I wouldn't expect a lot from them, but I do totally see where you're coming from I'd much rather see a title that interests me as a core gamer.
Yeah I'm not really complaining about a game like this being made (different games for different people) My problem is with the timing in which they have chosen to release this. The Vita is in need of a system seller and Sonys focus should be on the hardcore gamers right now. Or at least a bigger franchise (although COD Declassified didn't help)
its not that i don't agree, i do. there is a huge market for this type of game, but they haven't laid any groundwork for it. the vita has been out for over a year and i don't recall seeing any games for kids. unless this is the start of something bigger, they are going to be very disappointed in sales
Still not a system seller though
its not...but killzone is in NA/EU for sure....but this is a kid attractor and vita needs that too.... but no its obviously not a system seller...your just being a di*k.
I'll take five.
GOTY 2014. Tge VITA doesn't need GTA or METAL GEAR SOLID. it needs PETS!!!
Yeah that is just what the Vita needs.
The console war has begun. Sony strike back at Nintendogs! First PS Allsstars taking on SSB now Nintendogs. Waiting for them to announce The Legend of Sackboy: Skyward Zip.
I hope you didn't trademark that name because I'll take it thank you very much.
They are already making Tearaway if you are talking about a game in action-adventure genre.
Gotta sell them handhelds somehow...
LMAO, this BS. My guess is that this confirms a price drop, and probably a significant one since the Vita's price prevents it from being a children's toy ($179 - $199). The puppies actually look pretty good, and I must say it's a bit charming, but we need real Vita games as well Sony don't disappoint (this is a good attempt at getting handheld franchises and learning from Nintendo's success). I give you an E for effort, but now you need about 12 other games all shown at one time, and releasing starting September - E3 2014. That's how you'll pick up sales, it worked for the 3DS, Nintendo's trying to do it with the Wii U, and hopefully it'll work for you.
agreed, the first thing I thought when I seen this pet game is price drop. no parent is buying a vita at that price for their kid for this game...drop the price and this game becomes relevant.....though the vita is the most powerful handheld on the market its not a kids toy...but needs to be to compete with the ds....and a price drop would help. imagine this.....a price drop before killzone hits next month plus this kiddie game equal win-win. the vita would see a boost that would change the minds of many who criticized it.
Not what I was expecting but I guess this might help broaden the vistas fan base with the younger crowd. Now show me some games that I actually wanna get. Mercenary and tearaway are looking great don't get me wrong, I just wanna see more things at gamescom.
My Vitas purchase back at launch date is now finally worth it.
Lol I'm done
"Our view of the 'Game Boy experience' is that it's a great babysitting tool, something young kids do on airplanes, but no self-respecting twenty-something is going to be sitting on an airplane with one of those," Tretton said. "He's too old for that." Yup PS VITA is for those hardcore badasses.
"for a human, you're pretty awesome" - Racism Confirmed. In all seriousness, not as generic as it sounds at first after you watch the video.
Sony does what Nintendid
Yep. rip-offs Nintendo dogs.. lol
And out come the vita haters! Its just one game that seems aimed at a younger casual crowd, im sure we will see some great vita titles announced at Gamescom like sony has hinted....anyways back to dragons crown I go.
@Williamson what do you mean "out come the vita hater's" LMAO you think they were hiding or something..lol they have been out in the open and having a go at Sony and the people who are fans of the PSVita mocking them the whole time the PSVita has been on the market. Many call this payback for the the way many saw the people who talked bad about the 3DS. well the ironic thing is , the more they keep on that hate going, the more they are it seem's obsessed with the product and its fans they really do not care about in the first place, they seem to enjoy trying to get under the skin of certain group of gamer's. and while they feel they deserve to do such, its making their fan base look just as petty as the people they in fact Mock. Ask yourself, what does it say about the Fans and the product they are so obsessed with. it seems they are just as obsessed with not only the product they are it seems Just as Obsessed with the products fans to keep taunting them.
Surprised no cats and no birds just dogs.
No cats no life. :(
Hmmm it's tough. I don't know wether to get knack or this. For my inner child..
Doesn't take long for the Vita haters to start showing up. It's like they think Pets is the only game Sony has planned for the Vita. And this game doesn't even look too bad!
Firstly, nice avatar, almost got the platinum. Secondly, its not about that, people expect every game that is announced to be the AAA high profile gamer's game title. This is just targeted at another part of the market and its a possible system seller.
How terrible! Sony is aiming to make the Vita appealing to younger or more casual players! They should be focusing completely on me and my hardcore needz!!!11eleventybillion. /sarcasm. This looks adorable. Too bad it doesn't have cats.
Yeah, cats would have been a nice addition. Not everyone is a dog person. Though the name, Pets, does imply that there will be more than just dogs when the game launches.
That's what I'm hoping. Perhaps a DLC addition/expansion if the game is successful. I like the 'quest' system, too, since it makes the game more than just a simulation. I could definitely see myself playing this when I want to relax and unwind from a stressful day.
I hated Nintendogs because of contests. I hope its fun. I just want to pet my pooch in peace. ^~^
Not a bad idea actually. This will be great for kids. That's Nintendo's biggest market, so if Sony wants the Vita to sell they'll need to broaden their appeal like this.
"Making humans walk and move realistically in videos games is one thing, but creating truly convincing dogs for today’s demanding younger gamers, really is something else." Should've given a phone call to Activision, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to share their secret Dog sauce.
l am commenting from my Vita I can clearly feel the sadness in my hands... good bye Bioshock hopes farewell New AssCreed hopes so long Final Fantasy Vita hopes see ya God of War Vita hopes awww ......
Pretty cool game, this game is great for a system as powerful as the Vita. I can imagine using the touch pad to scratch the dog's head or it's behind. Hopefully they'll have cross play functions with the new PS4.
Are you trying to make fun of PS4/Vita?
As if I would hand my Vita over to my 5yo niece to play this. It would probably end up dropped onto the floor at some point. A Vita isn't a child's toy.
whats with the talking pets? also, if it called Pets, why am im only seeing dogs?
I like it, yes I do! I never understood why Sony markets the Vita as a hardcore handheld seems silly to me, I don't see adults or teenagers playing with a handheld in public(I certainly don't) what I do see is children girls and boys with Ds/psp/3ds's, these are the type of kid friendly games Vita needs not fps, and make more learning games for the kids too, that is all.
LMFAO this will definitely save Vita for doom
yet another carbon copy Cmon sony make something original
So the vita is dying and Sony responds with this. This is sad.
ill buy this IF and ony if the kool aid man is in it ;)
LOL REALLY SONY
Well, this is embarrassing really.

You have the chance to bring a big franchise(Bioshock) to the struggling Vita that could forever change it. Seriously, do you even forget it exists sometimes? C'mon Sony! I love Playstation too much to see this happening. I love the PS1, PS2, PS3 and the PSP is my favorite handheld of all time. The PS1 is my favorite console of all time. This is hard to watch.
I agree. Ken Levine is putting a lot of effort into this matchmaking deal to begin production for Bioshock Vita but instead Sony finds the money to give us this? Come on. Let's see if this does well. -_-
Not mad, just upset.
Sony only has to do one thing with this title.. ADVERTISE IT! that's all.
I remember someone saying that the 3ds was a child's toy and that no self respecting 20 something year old would be caught using one, who was that again? Oh yeah, Jack(a$$) Trentton
