EA’s Humble Origin Bundle breaks $2.1 million

"In a move that’ll make many PC gamers do a double take, EA has partnered with the people at Humble Bundle to unleash the “Humble Origin Bundle.”

For just $1 or more, you can acquire Origin keys for Dead Space, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space 3 and Medal of Honor. Being extra generous and paying above the average also nets you Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 + Starter Pack.

Now before you click out of this tab after reading “Origin,” know that Dead Space, Burnout Paradise, Crysis 2, Medal of Honor and Mirror’s Edge all have Steam keys as well. Dead Space 3, Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 have to be tied to Origin." - Patrick Kulikowski (Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3, EA, Humble Bundle, Humble Origin Bundle, Industry, Mirror's Edge, PC, The Sims 3)

I nearly didn't get it due to Origin... But now I can say that if I want to try Origin out, I now own BF3, DS3 and S3 on it!

Fortunately, most come with Steam keys. It's only Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3, and the Sims 3 that don't have steam keys.

Yeah I was a little worried about Origin myself but my daughter was begging for Sims 3 so this was a no brainer for me. Gonna Try Dead Space 1 and & 3 later tonight.

This is an incredible deal. Even though I already own several of the games, I went ahead and bought it anyway simply because it's too good to pass up and it goes towards charity. Dang, I love PC gaming.

Me too, gave most of my duplicates away already. Really Is a good bundle.

Origin isn't bad like people make it out to be. I use it have no problems with it
GentlemenRUs  +   469d ago
It's not the software but the EULA they have.

It allows them to snoop on your PC...
AnotherProGamer  +   469d ago
uh no that was made-up and people kept saying it like it was fact

it would be illegal to to that

Wrong, It clearly states in the EULA:

"2. Consent to Collection and Use of Data.

You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services. EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you. IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE APPLICATION. This and all other data provided to EA and/or collected by EA in connection with your installation and use of this Application is collected, used, stored and transmitted in accordance with EA’s Privacy Policy located at www.ea.com. To the extent that anything in this section conflicts with the terms of EA’s Privacy Policy, the terms of the Privacy Policy shall control."

Am I the only one which reads the EULA out there?

<3 Humble Bundle

Yes but is this not a bit of a middle finger to the Indies straight from EA? For me it just feels like they're stepping on toes and trying to use the Humbe Bundle to promote Origin since it's failing to catch up with Steam
theEx1Le  +   469d ago
Thats a really cynical way of looking at it. Another would to say they are better than all the indies, as they aren't taking any money at all with all the proceeds going to charity.
Blackdeath_663  +   469d ago
totally worth it
edit: it at 3mill now and all money goes to charity including all the ea and origin money

Thanks for the heads up. Even though I don't have a good PC it is worth getting these games cheaply for the future

$1 for Dead Space 3 coop is totally worth it.
memots  +   469d ago
this is unreal , i paid 10$ for all of them and gave it all to human rights.

Awesome stuff, the only games i already had were; Mirror Edge ( i will gift the code to my newphew ) and crysis 2 but did not have the maximum edition they offered ... oh yeah , already have bf3 with all add-on. Need to find someone to gift this too.

Sweet sweet deal.
Best part of it all, I had Dead space 2 but not 1 and 3 and both 1 and 3 were in the bundle LOL

That worked out perfectly for you then.

it's a brilliant marketing move by EA... now if people want to pay BF3, Sims or DS3 they have to get origin... which means that they have to log onto it to access the games... which means they'll see the store and the promotions (albeit some are ridiculously shitty) and impulse buy crap from them
