Why The Wonderful 101 Stands a Chance Against Grand Theft Auto 5

The Wonderful 101 might have a hard time capturing the attention of gamers worldwide this Fall as it releases around the same time as Rockstar Games’ juggernaut, Grand Theft Auto 5. These games release within mere days of one another – TWO days to be exact. Grand Theft Auto consistently gets great reviews and sells beautifully, easily stealing the spotlight from any other game that releases around the same time. Though this game releases September 15 and Grand Theft Auto 5 releases September 17, there are many reasons why The Wonderful 101 could hold its own and become profitable.

I highly doubt Wonderful 101 (exclusive to the Wii-U) could outshine a powerhouse like GTA 5. This GTA has been long awaited and for a new IP to even get a glimpse of hope it shouldn't be released anywhere near a blockbuster game.

"I highly doubt Wonderful 101 (exclusive to the Wii-U) could outshine a powerhouse like GTA"

Why does nobody actually read the articles.....?

How about reading my entire post and using it instead of chopping it up and using it against me to make it seem opposing to the article which I read in entirety.
I was just saying that there's very little chance of it even getting a foothold in the game industry with it being exclusive to a (IMO) Dying handheld device. At least in America

"I was just saying that there's very little chance of it even getting a foothold in the game industry with it being exclusive"

No, that's not what you were saying. What you said was:

"I highly doubt Wonderful 101 (exclusive to the Wii-U) could outshine a powerhouse like GTA"

That's too completely different things. You said what you said.

The point of the article was that the 101 could SURVIVE against GTA5, not COMPETE with it, like you initial statement implied.

Why are you being so defensive, Shok?

First of all, Sneauxman is well within reason to respond the way he did. The title implies W101 will actually be able to HOLD ITS OWN against GTA5. No matter how you look at it, that's not likely to happen; very few exclusives have that power, and we should all be able to agree that while W101 may be a great game, it's not gonna come anywhere CLOSE to rivaling GTA in sales.

The article lists some reasons why W101 can- and will, I think- be successful, but finishes by saying virtually the same thing you were bothered enough to quote.

It being an exclusive AND a new IP on a struggling console will make sales tough to come by. I don't think GTA will have much of an effect, though, as- like many other things in gaming that get poor comparisons- they're not really targeting the same market.

@ Hicken W101 will hold it's own for the simple fact that GTA is not coming to the Wii U. So in actuality GTA may or may not boost sales of the consoles that it is coming to. But W101 would have a better opportunity to move more Wii U's and sale pretty good on the system as it will not have direct competition. So realistically speaking if the game were to sale 3 mill on the Wii u and the install base is under 6 mill then they sold better than GTA if that game doesn't sale to 50% of the people who have the other systems.

The reality is W101 will not be affected by GTA because people who have a Wii u will buy it and GTA won't be affected by W101 if you don't have a Wii U then you won't buy it.

Wonderful 101 will do great in the Wii-U world, while GTA V will dominate the rest of the console world.

It stands a chance because people with WiiUs haven't had a game to buy for like 6 months.

I don't own WiiU but, have you ever heard of Pikmin 3 ?!
