Gizmodo - As the dust settled over the new Xbox One this summer, one point that kept coming up—maybe predictably—was size: The console is surprisingly chunky.
It was supposed to do everything, but you can't compete with both the PS4 and the Wii U. It had to be one or the other, and MS didn't choose. Now the XB1 is stuck with no direction and a dim future.
You can't compete with the internet and the internet has spoken. Microsoft has knelt to it's true masters. http://tekcert.com/sites/de...
There's still the "X" factor of advertising, which MS usually focuses on. Really, the only question is how will US market take to the system. Since that's really the only market MS cares about.
In other words, the reality is that Xbox One has simply become the "Xbox None".
Yes it was designed to be an Everything Machine...Everything that people didnt want.
"How the Xbox One Console Was Designed to Be an Everything Machine" Well let's at least be honest, it's a supposed "everything machine" behind a paywall, for better or worse....I'm thinking worse. Now that they've made XB1 functional without Kinect, if it wasn't for the paywall I would probably really consider getting one. The paywall is the reason I didn't get one this gen.
As soon as Microsoft announces a Kinect-less package at Gamescom, I'll resume faith in the Xbox brand. Until then, I really don't want it, literally only because of the Kinect. Like I don't want to have to use it... I don't really care about it spying on me, if the NSA wants to watch me jerking it then that's their problem but I just want to be able to game with a controller and a controller only, and the only way I'll be able to feel confident that they won't force me to use motion controls is if I buy an Xbox One without Kinect so that I literally don't even have the option of motion controls. Or voice controls for that matter. I like the controller, I like the Box, I like the games, and the Live, and the Skype, and all of that. I DON'T WANT A KINECT, MICROSOFT. IF YOU'RE GOING TO CHANGE ALL YOUR POLICIES AT LEAST CHANGE THIS ONE.
Cue the ad-hominem attacks referencing tin-foil hats and other discrediting attacks on your integrity and character. Because remember folks, if you are doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide! Now move along like a good sheep and just ignore the man behind the curtain... :)
If they do that, people will resort to the "Microsoft has no vision" line. It's already started when they simply announced you can unplug it. Microsoft can't do anything without being heavily criticized and to be frank, they were the only ones trying to do something unique for the new generation. People didn't like it, so they reversed everything, and still people find stuff to complain about. Microsoft was "wrong" for trying to balance all sides of the industry and pave the way for the future, but apparently they're also wrong for listening to their customers when they disagree with the balancing. Kinect sets Xbox One apart from the competition. It's vital they keep it in every SKU so that developers know that every console sold is a console with it.
The Xbone is a console with serious a split personality disorder!
People already have the things that the Xbox One is offering (TV,Apps,Sports,Streaming etc), and have done for years. I'm not saying completely abandon those things but change the ratio of attention more towards the gaming side. Their vision of having the Xbox One as the main entertainment system in all homes is way too ambitious due to most people already having devices that do what the Xbox One is promoting. Just give us quality games! Make that the number 1 focus.
Jack of all master of none!
How can people say that x1 is an everythink machine when ps4 is doing the same how can people not realize that x1 games is the same as the ps4 games thou sony has more exclusives due to better 1st party devs I just dont get people I would expect every1 to join sony the console race cos its the new 360 better hardware better support better multiplatform games
