"He also specified that the showcase event on tuesday morning will include a really short presentation on stage, talking about some exclusives coming to Xbox One, but most of the time will be dedicated to the press spending time with the developers and with their games. It will basically be “a room with a lot of hands-on”"

So we really shouldn't expect any major announcements then. Bit of a missed opportunity here. I like the room idea but this event is so close to launch they should do a big conference as well (especially when they haven't really gone into depth about the UI)

Dude, how much has Sony shown with their system and controllers and unbound since e3?

considering he didn't say anything about Sony i dont see how thats even relevant. is wanting or expecting more from Microsoft somehow makes you a Sony fan, thats like me saying chevy should make a new impala and you saying but honda hasnt made any new cars, that shit has nothing to do with me wanting a new impala

Sony hasn't had to show much. The best marketing for Sony has come from MS since the X1 reveal.

Sony has been mostly silent since E3(odd considering they're releasing a new console), because all the blunders MS has made is just getting them more customers.

Sony has a chance to really blow us away at GamesCon.

On the other hand, Sony could blow that and all the positive Sony press/negative MS press would all be for naught.

If I were them, I'd want to avoid a conference because of all the nonsense and changes going on (which will presumably continue until M$ announces the games will be released on beta max).

Just tell me the release date and am happy.

a let down :( Was hoping for a big E3 like press conference. I'm a sony fan but now that the kinect isn't mandatory it means that eventually a model sans kinect will be made and that I will pick up.
So my interest is peaking on the xbox, they really should do a conference to capture new people now that all the negs are gone that have kept people away.

yeah, and if they don't, you should eventually be able to find used ones selling without the kinect after a couple months.

So, the MS gamescom rumor has been confirmed. This is like their Showcase Event they have had before, a brief stage presentation to a closed audience of "game journalists", then they are allowed to go try some highly supervised demo stations. If these "demo" units are in an enclosed cabinet, and it isn't clearly visible the power cord goes directly to the console and the hdmi cable comes directly from the console, and none of these anusbrain journalists ask for the cabinet to be opened, then it is total BS. This Gamescom is setting up to be a console gaming history disaster for the XBone.

Meh!! I was hopping for a little more than that.
