JumpToGamer:
With the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 5 in September, it’s hard not to get excited. Rockstar’s rap sheet of the series hasn’t taken a dent yet, and seeing their previous masterpieces in the series, I highly doubt it will with the new Grand Theft Auto epic.
I’ve played every Grand Theft Auto, bar Chinatown Wars and GTA Advance, back as far as the good old days of GTA III, where the mute protagonist, Claude Speed, takes control of Liberty City. As the next installment, GTA: Vice City hit the shelves in 2002, I fell in love with the series. From then on, it was my favorite game series of all time, slamming the much loved series of the time such as Medal of Honor and Gran Turismo. My love continued through the next six installments, especially in GTA IV, which I still play to this day.
But with the new game-play trailer of GTA V, released in July, comes some speculation of the series. Is it changing from the much loved old titles?
The freedom to explore large areas, approach objectives in multiple ways, and stumble across amusing distractions will always be an excellent format for video games, but some do it better than others. To celebrate the formula and parse the best from the best, have a look at the best open-world games of all time so far.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 are both classics, but movement and general interaction sometimes feels like you're possessed by a fridge.
Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…
The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.
Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games
I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
As is they're coins down a sofa, some announced games seem to just disappear. So just where are these missing VR games?
For GTA SA
Meta made a lot of budget cuts and cancelled a fair few exclusive game contracts we don't know if this was cancelled but it's possible and this was announced prior to the release of GTA definitive edition which was slammed and eventually moved to be supported in house by Rockstar.
Since then we have just gotten the mobile versions a d they are actually the best way to play the definitive edition unfortunately the consoles never got a retrospective patch to implement the improvements they made in the mobile games.
But for VR we know a VR mode was found in the definitive editions game files thanks to data miners so seeming it was meant to be using the definitive edition as a base given its ue4 that makes sense. And the mode is there right now (some Polish may be required still) I would assume this is ready to go but meta got cold feet and cancelled it given the games reputation.
I do hope Rockstar forge ahead and still just launch it anyway on psvr2 as it's a game I've loved since day 1 on PS2 I'll even tolerate the de version to get it in VR
I feel same things.
Thanks.
That is right Rockstar games has an impassive legacy...
The GTA games have certainly had me playing them for countless hours each. I still pop in the older ones from time to time and play them on my PS2. Rockstar games has done some great things with open world games and I cannot wait to see what they come up with on PS4 and XBOX One. Until then though I know that GTA V will keep me engaged for days. Luckily I get 4 days off the week it comes out. I won't be able to play it on day one but you can bet as soon as I get home the next day it will be my main focus.
