Why?

Nothing out there currently asks for this type of graphical power...

Because people like throwing money away to extend their e-penis. Seriously, for the price and completely unnecessary power, this is a waste of money. Even if you're running 3 screens, at max settings, you would not need this at all.

Well, there's next gen games to consider too.

But I didn't disagree with you. My HD 7950 maxes nearly everything at over 60fps.

Only a couple games like Metro Last Light and Crysis 3 really require me to lower any settings, and even then they still look amazing. Or I'll just cap those games at 30fps fully maxed out.

So yeah, unless you are running a 4k or 120hz monitor cards like this really aren't necessary. But there ARE people running setups like that, so nothing wrong with there being hardware out there to achieve it.

It's easy : those who doesn't see the need to extend their e-penis, just don't buy. Those who do will buy it.

Many reasons. For one, a lot of people have a different understanding of what it means to "max out" a game. As someone else mentioned, there are 120hz and 144hz monitors and higher resolution monitors, triple monitor setups, and 3D gaming (which good 3D requires a lot of performance), etc. For two, a lot of people completely bullshit the performance they get in games. I hear all the time "I get 90 fps in Battlefield 3 on Ultra with a 670." Maybe when you're staring at a wall. With my 780 I get about 90 fps average, 60 fps minimum at times, which is actually less than I'd like for my 144hz monitor. Not to mention, better to buy a high end card now and have it last quite a while rather than buying a new card after the new consoles come out.

I'm gonna need 4 of these in sli if I wanna get close to the power of the new consoles though. JK before I get e-crucified.
