Preordered. There's so much depth to the gameplay and the controls are butter smooth (thanks to the 60FPS frame-rate).

BOOYAH!

EDIT: Man, one person really doesn't agree with anyone who is looking forward to this game. :p

I just finished the demo, The drawing took a bit to get used to but once i got it down it felt smooth, comfortable, and natural. The gamepad screen is actually allot faster than using the analog to draw.so if there is an offline battle mode whoever has the gamepad will have an advantage.

so far it looks like this will be an amazing game.

So I've put in about 30 - 60 minutes and played on normal mode. There's not much Story to this demo as there probably will be in the game. Also if you were expecting this demo to guide you threw learning every move and attack, that's not what happens. This is pretty much a sandbox demo where you're basically thrown out on your own. There are help messages that relay on the GamePad and on the screen, but they're hard to focus on while you're playing. There are also some parts of the demo that almost abruptly switch to the GamePad during gameplay (such when you go inside a building). This can break your focus if you don't get used to it. This is essentially one of those demos that allow you to become a pro at the game before you purchase it.

This game is truly a lot of fun and I think it will sell well. Also lol @ the guy who downvoted me for being critical/honest.

Dang it, just moved, have to get wi-fi. So jealous right now. After playing pikmin 3 I know this game will deliver as well.

Played it. It's very fun! I wasn't sure about whether or not I'd get this game, but I'm sold on it now for sure.

Controls are just fine by the way...

I am going to get trashed for this comment, but I did not like the demo, and probably will not buy the game at release. A few things that bother me:

1.) The Visuals. Don't get me wrong the game looks excellent visually, stunning colors and smooth frame rate... but there is just too much going on at once, it makes me feel like it's just a big mess, I don't know where to focus. Zoom - at times it feels as if I'm way too close to the ground, I want to zoom out and view the action. It bothers me.

2.) Controls. Not the easiest to control, I don't like looking down at the gamepad alot to make circles etc. I'm sure there is a learning curve and it would get easier the more you play, but I didn't care for it. Entering the building was the worst... it did not control well at all. I have my gamepad pointed right at the tv, but on the gamepad screen, it appeared as though I was looking at the ground. It annoyed me, and was hard to look around correctly.

3.) Gamepad features. I did not like that they have 2 layers of information on the gamepad. A layer of visuals for controls, then under that a layer with the map. Did not like that at all, the double layering of information.. it's just too much for me.

4.) Gameplay. Collecting back each of your people every time you get hit sucks. It tedious and gets old after 5 minutes. I'm already tired of making circles.

I know you all probably will love this game, but for me, I did not care for it. I thought it looked like a visual mess and the gameplay was not addictive, but tedious and just not that fun. To each their own I guess. Back to Pikmin 3 I go.

I had all of these problems at the very beginning but by the end of the demo almost all of those concerns were gone. It's something new, there's a learning curve but it's not a steep one. I agree about the camera zoom though, I'd like to have a little more control over that as well but it's nowhere near a deal breaker. To each their own I guess, but I was wonderfully impressed, so says Mr. Stewart...

My sentiments exactly. It feels so new and different it actually takes time to get used to. Once you get it it becomes a really nicely challenging and frantic game. Guess it was just too hard for mn gamer. wonder if he figured out you can use the right analog stick to draw too?

Hey man, there are people who exist who didn't like Super Mario Galaxy or Uncharted 2. Everyone can't like everything. ;)

Just wanted to provide some counterpoints.

2) The controls do have a bit of a learning curve. Did you try "drawing" with the right stick? That's what I did throughout most of the demo.

4) Actually you don't need to necessarily collect all of the heroes. If you keep yourself safe for a bit, they eventually recover and rapidly find their way back to you.

Ah well. Too bad you didn't enjoy it. To each their own though. Thank you for at least expressing yourself in a tactful manner.

Wow. Just wow. This game is pretty amazing, nice to see Platinum making something cool and NEW that takes great advantage of the gamepad. So ready for the release!

the character design reminds me of Viewtiful Joe

It's available for download in Oz now. Just need to go through demo section. Waiting for it to download, then will kick my son off Luigi U, mop and vac the house before the wife gets home, help the other son with his homework, put the wiggles on my phone for my daughter, put tea in the oven, make the beds, feed the dog, and then I'll give the demo a go. Sigh...
Whymii  +   383d ago
Finally got to play it. Very much like Viewtiful Joe, which is a good thing. Controls and camera takes time to get used to, but control becomes second nature and the on-screen madness begins to make sense. Overall a very solid effort and well worth a purchase.

Sorry for the multi-posts but I forgot to mention that I loved the SNES Super Scope ability. Freakin awesome. Ahh the memories...

God damn, quite the extensive demo. been playing the heck out of it. Probably the first wii U game I've played where the game play really feels new and different. Shame I only get 20 plays.

Some have been saying this game has bad controls. I just played the demo and yeah, so the controls have a learning curve. But it is freaking awesome! Took me until the second mini boss to get used to it but now its natural and smooth. System mover for sure.
