They mention halo, But it's nothing like halo. Killzone is more for adults.

Halo is colorful.

First game was decent and so was the last.

Come on man, don't start a fanboy war in here. There's enough going on already.

I know some fanboys may be shocked when I say this...

I enjoy playing the Halo series and the Killzone series. There I said it.

I agree mate, well said.

Both really good games with great net coding!

How dare you say such twisted things on N4G. Lets hunt this man down folks

Wasn't trying to start one.

I enjoyed the first and last halo the most.

With killzone i meant it just feels more gritty adult type affair.

I didn't play 3, but the storyline of 2 was as childish as they get (without making an outright kids game). They took every bad war movie trope there is and rolled it up into a testosterone fueled mess akin to Gears of War. The multiplayer was fantastic, but the single player was a cringe-fest and a half.

Killzone 2 was my favorite, yet I can't help but agree with you. The script is laughable and you get the impression that the writers had just learned how to swear and became determined to impress others with their "adult" vocabulary. Shadowfall - from the little I've seen - seems to have rectified this. My only other reservation is whether or not the weight has returned to the controls, because I was not a fan of the way Killzone 3 handled. I liked that they got rid of the lag, but the COD feel was a letdown.

Shadowfall looks stunning. The gameplay and graphics both look amazing, and my fingers are crossed for the writing to follow in the same fashion. I'm probably going to end up passing it for BF4, as I haven't played a military FPS for anything other than multiplayer since COD4 (which is probably the reason why). If Shadowfall turns out to have a particularly compelling single player, I'm definitely going to pick it up.

@JP Killzone 3 doesn't feel or play anything like CoD.

1) The weight of the previous game was removed in favor of a twitchy, swivel-on-stick feel.
2) The Marksman was able to both turn invisible and use the most effective close-range weapon in the game, thus encouraging camping.
3) Kill streaks.
4) Recoil and spread were dramatically reduced from what was seen in Killzone 2, while auto aim was increased, making the whole affair easier for a certain fanbase that isn't too familiar with the concept of developing skill.

How does that not sound like Call of Duty? Did you even play Killzone 2?
fourOeightshark  +   594d ago
I've played Killzone 2, 3, and CoD.
I'm telling you again, KZ3 plays nothing like CoD. If it did, those 3 friends of mine that i tried to get into KZ3 would of liked it instead of crying about the weighty controls.

What a well-reasoned post. You've addressed none of the points I mentioned, instead opting to rely on a, "my three friends and I" non-argument. The quality of your statement is such that I could easily counter by saying, "It does too". Solid work, kid.

Go ahead and say that it does, it's a fact that it doesn't. Go play CoD and then play KZ3, if you think they feel the same you're lying to yourself. Nice job calling me a kid.

You might want to learn the definition of a fact. This is all opinion. And yeah, I've played COD. The inspiration is clear.

I love Killzone, and much prefer the universe to that of Halo. Having said that, I can't help but laugh at the assertion that Killzone is adult (as in, mature). As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, GG utilized every horrible cliche from just about every action movie from the last three decades. The script is an abomination and I would be perfectly happy if they focused more on the muliplayer (which was amazing in the second game), at the expense or exclusion of single player.

PLEASE NO MORE, I CAN'T TAKE IT!!! lol. But that argument is so last gen, let's move forward shall we.

Above everything, I love the new color palette. KZ3 was nice too, but this is just beautiful lol. Can't wait, got this baby preordered.

The only game that I like in the franchise is Killzone 2 specially the MP is amazing, brutal and addictive. Killzone for PS2 was technically bad and Killzone 3 was a disaster ( bad story, stupid ending, nasty characters, linear and the multiplayer is very bad because you can't choose sides or server and the majority of the time you would found empty games)

For this new game, I want a Helghast campaign and a MP like K2, where you can choose sides and server, better characters, more customization options, vehicles and a great story. Maybe is too much to request, but I have great faith that this time Killzone could be at the same level that the great Halo franchise.

Lol you're not getting a helghast campaign.

The most we can hope for is that we'll be able to play as Echo, who is a female helghast intelligence op . Tho we'll be playing as Lucas Kellen for probably most of the time.
GABRIEL1030  +   594d ago
You are right !

Playing like Echo could be very interesting and this new add is enough for me, because she is an helghast. A dual campaign could be great, Keller looks be a good character, now the only thing is to improve the Multiplayer.

Maybe, Shadow fall could be a great game, a new start.....

This sounds a bit like how Crysis 2 was done, although it sounds much much more open. Let's just hope it's not a complete piece of shit like Crysis 2.
TheFutureIsBlue  +   594d ago
It looks great and all, but I barely played Killzone 2 and didn't even play 3. I feel like I will miss out on story. It is actually one of the few Sony franchises I didn't get into. I'm leaning more towards BF3 since I've played every BF since BF 1942. I hope those that buy this will love it though.
