Rage Creative Director Matt Hooper Works at Oculus VR Now, Too

Game Front: "Matt Hooper, the decade-long veteran of id Software who served as Creative Director on 2011′s Rage, has an updated LinkedIn Profile. After officially parting ways with id and Bethesda roughly six months ago, Hooper is now the Director of Development in Oculus VR’s new Dallas office." (Industry)

John Carmack didn't leave Id. He's working for Id and Oculus.

Everybody getting all up in that VR cake. Too bad I can't afford a gaming PC. Fingers crossed that there will be a sony-oculus rift deal in 2015 or 16.

If Sony were smart, they'd invest in this company heavily. I keep hearing great things about the Oculus Rift.

Alas, I am wondering when MS or Google plan to target this little company. I hope they remain 100% independent, if nothing else.

quite looking forward to trying out the developer kit, mine should arrive in a couple of weeks.

You lucky SOB!!! I'm really trying not to order a dev kit, but damn do I want to experience this. The only thing that allows me to hold off is knowing that it would be months until they finally ship it out. Do you plan on making YouTube vids or anything?
Perjoss  +   385d ago
sorry no, im not very good at that sort of thing. But there are tons and tons of good ones on you tube already, hm let me grab a couple of links for you...

well for some reason youtube isn't working for me right now, but if you search for "testing the oculus rift development kit" its a great 44 min video analysis.

this is pretty funny too:

Agh I wish we would hear something about the retail version or even an HD dev kit soon. Regretting not just ordering the dev kit months ago. Ordering now just to have a better version come out would be very disappointing...

I really want to wait for the consumer model, but it's getting hard holding off until then, especially with no news of when that version will be coming out. I don't think Oculus will announce anything until x1 and ps4 have been out for awhile. The new consoles hype train is too large right now, and any Oculus news would be overshadowed.
