Might be in a minority here but I didn't enjoy any of the sections playing as Atreus or having companions at all. If I had my way it'd be Kratos on his lonesome from start to finish. Straightforward action gameplay without the endless boring chatter.
Funny. I cam late to GoW and ended playing the HD Collection like you and LOVED IT! How can that many amazing puzzles, action set pieces and epic boss battles ever be considered boring? Maybe you just weren't in the mood for playing that kind of title? At first play, I HATED Red Dead Redemption, HATED it. Didn't play it for like 6 months, came back to it and started a new game and Loved it!
Cod4 MW though was a hard pill to swallow, it just seemed a little to close to home in terms of current events, it really felt like American -the Good Guys Propaganda. Loved the MP but SP just pinched that nerve.
Bioshock 2 is better in almost every way, (graphics, gameplay, controls,) but the first is a better game --> if we are comparing two art pieces.
