GameSpot - Jason Rohrer's upcoming game The Castle Doctrine presents an ethically simplistic view of what are in reality some extraordinarily complex issues.
The Castle Doctrine is a unique experience that places you in a scenario where you have no choice but to survive. You must stop at nothing to protect your family and the things that are precious to you. You start with only two thousand dollars, a wife and a few kids. The main objective is to build a home security system to protect your family and any money you have in your possession. Sounds easy, right? You might want to think twice; there’s nothing easy about staying alive in The Castle Doctrine.
The Black Panel writes: The Castle Doctrine is a multiplayer home-invasion simulator from provocative designer Jason Rohrer. The challenge is to stay alive as long as possible, and continue to develop clever home security measures to protect your family and savings. Naturally, home defences are funded by stealing from other households trying to do the same. It’s an off-putting scenario and not handled tactfully, but might appeal if you’re looking for something different.

Rohrer may make a bold, artistic statement, but does this weird title offer compelling enough gameplay?
