Dark Souls First-Person Mod Reminds Me Why Skyrim's Combat Sucked

Everyone knows that From Software's Dark Souls is a third-person action RPG. However, a new video allows us to see what a first-person version of the game would be like. The answer: pretty terrible. (Dark Souls, PC, PS3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Xbox 360)

I don't know, increase the camera's viewing angle and it just might work. Might have to slow down movement speeds for everything so rolling works without becoming nauseating and I think it would be a winner.

Looks like a really early release of the MOD, but it looks like it would be a lot of fun if they can sharpen it up.

That is so bad. Skyrim's a bit more bearable than that.

The article questions what first person does close up combat well, they need to play Dark Messiah on the PC. Even for how long its been out its still some the best first person combat.

I agree. That's pretty much the only game that does first person melee combat well.

I am so glad that Demon souls/ dark souls weren't first person games.

I thought Skyrims combat was fun, the kill shots, arrows and magic were very well done imo
Umbasa  +   384d ago
My god skyrims combat was terrible, not once did i ever feel like i was making contact when i swung a weapon in that game. Very floaty feel to those games imo.
Raf1k1  +   384d ago
The difference between your opinions is down to how you played the game. If you played as a melee character you'd have bad combat experiences but as a range character the combat was pretty good.
Umbasa  +   384d ago
I guess, too bad for me i like melee combat. Does that mean its my fault that i thought it had terrible combat? nah. So then it must have good solid flowing combat? no. Because it does not imo but if i ever gave it another chance i will take your word for it and go ranged.

@Author Hey man, get in touch with Bethesda and let them know you can do better. I'd say that they'll hire you on the spot.

Enough with the first person fever that's been going around, i think 3rd person view fits this type of game waaaaaaaay more
rezzah  +   384d ago
Skyrim was basically 2 arms swinging around for hours from beginning to end. I couldn't never get into this game completely.

This is why mods are ****ing awful.

Honestly this is the reason,i didn't buy skyrim.First person camera in a sword game rpg as a full retail game is really akward and strange. The view is better with guns like Fallout3 and deus ex Hr
