James O'Connor of MMGN: As the PS4 and Xbox One edge ever closer to release, I’m seeing more and more concern from people about their enormous gaming backlogs. With this in mind, I need a plan for how to deal with my backlog.
wish there was advice for us PC/console gamers. have 600 steam games that I haven't beat and about 30 ps3 games and 5 xbox 360 games.
Lol just dont sell it ! Keep it , for memories haha
I sold all my console games that aren't first party or console exclusives and used that money to rebuy them on the steam sale, even got some money left over. :)
I don't plan on getting a ps4 till black friday 2014... probably. Not even close to being done with this gen, or some of the previous gens tbh.
There is no helping me. LOL. Between my PS3, VITA and XBOX 360 as well as Steam, I must have close to 30 games not yet even touched and I already have a PS4 and XBOX ONE paid for. I am not buying any other games except Dragons Crown until november. I actually still have PS2 and Original Xbox games to play. LOL
That's the real problem. Most adults, including me, just don't have enough time to play all those games. That is why I don't have all the consoles. I barely have enough time to play all the PS3 games I want to.
Exactly! I have found that as I have gotten older, ( I just turned 40) I have less time to do the things in life that I used to love to do, be it gaming, artwork, even reading a good book. Between my career, my four children (8 and under including a toddler) and wife, my free time has dwindled even though my obsession for purchasing games has not. I find myself not getting rid of any of them in the hopes that my children somewhere down the road wind up playing some of them. Plus, with the money that you get back for a trade in to me is not worth parting with the game.
Im only 21 and i barely find time to game anymore ( although its mostly my fault because i have been going out a lot lately) and not to mention my backlog consists of ps3 games steam, vita, 3ds, wii u... it never ends! @ darth... I probably buy more games than i play but they will always be there even if i dont get to it right away.. I learned my lesson after trading in all my n64 ps1 ps2 games long ago... major regrets
Yeah, I have a pretty sizable backlog too. I just started from the beginning in Skyrim Legendary Edition, that's not helping the backlog at all but I'm having fun. Maybe I can dip into something while playing Skyrim. IDK, we'll see.
the last of us was my last ps3 game besides whatever they offer on ps+. Im ready for ps4. hopefully gamestop offers double credit for systems again closer to launch so i can trade ps4 in for a extra controllers and games.
How to clear the backlog: Spend less time on N4G killing each other over sales figures, and play games. Yes, its simple as that
LOL! Current-gen backlog...That's a good one.
Whenever I see a deal for a game that im interested in I just end up buying and dont play it as it gets burried in my backlog, and then ps+ came along which made things 10X worse and has increased/still increases my backlog. Poor me right.....
I just sold my 360 and my games for 5 new ps4 games. I just beat bioshock, still have the last of us and 5 others to beat before September 17th.
I have been working on my backlog, as I have a ways to go before I pickup both my PS4 & XB1 launch consoles :-( I'm currently working on Assassins Creed 3, Bioshock Infinite, Mass Effect 3, Gears of War 3. I just finished Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, BulletStorm last week. Not to mention, I pre ordered Splinter Cell Blacklist and Grand Theft to add to a list of games I already have to finish before November.
PS Plus gave me a massive backlog, so I've been spending all summer trying to play most of them before the PS4 comes out, or at least until GTAV comes out. I'm doing pretty well actually, just playing Infamous 2 from Plus and loving it so far.
