Final Fantasy XIV Producer Responds to Criticism on Lag and Area Attacks in the Beta

One of the aspects of the latest beta of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn that many criticized was the presence of a degree of lag that caused a mismatch between the graphical representation of some monsters’ area attacks and actual damage applied to players. Basically players that thought they were safe outside of the area of effect were still hit, often with lethal results.

The game’s Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida wrote an interesting post on the game’s closed beta forums addressing the issue and promising that things are going to get better.

Agreed! Beta! say it with me kids B E T A not Free to try out Demo.. that's why the kids idiot and any moron that complains has to learn.. Beta.. you help test the game and the open beta is basically yes a demo but more so a huge stress test for the servers before the game goes live.

@slasher aka troll.. by all means have fun playing single player RPGs by your self you won't be missed as I and many others join up and have a blast playing FF XIV in this kick a$$ MMO.

/waits for slasher to disagree

Slasher should realize that two separate teams work on FF14 and the singleplayer FF games so it isn't like they are ignoring singleplayer. They have just made a bunch of bad-ish ones that are really well polished visually. I am in the FF14 beta and I hate mostly every MMO I play and I really like FF14 while its still only in beta so I am excited for when it actually comes out. IT has FF Tactics and FF12 nostalgia.

Whole purpose of a beta is to stress the system and fix any bugs or unforseen issues before launch! Its good to hear about this issue and know that its getting fixed.
