Edge:Bungie hopes to take Borderlands’ brand of openworld shooting one step further through connected play.
Very excited for this game
I can't wait!! This game has had me since E3. Look amazing, with drop in and out multiplayer, public events, awesome graphics and, what sounds like, a great story. I'm really excited for this one.
"You see other people on the horizon, hear gunfire over a hill and see space magic flying behind some trees, and you know… there are other people out here, that [changes everything]. Borderlands right now is: ‘I’m going to walk into that space and we’re going to clear them out and keep going" This is very very true. This is part of what makes DayZ so great. Adding human players to an open-world game makes everything more unpredictable and exciting. It also allows for plenty of anecdotal situations to happen
I'm not really into Halo like I was before, but this game has me very interested. It's something that seems just fresh enough to make it worth while.
That's my argument, I haven't even played Halo 4 yet, and from what I saw my buddies playing I was just kind of like "meh, it's another Halo game." Destiny looks fresh and awesome in all it's entirety, I can't wait to get into that game, create my character and job class, and start blasting shit. Going to be stellar.
Destiny is one of the reasons why I am buying a PS4.
I know what you mean, it's one of the games am looking forward to most on the Xbox one after watching the vids on the site.
I'm getting it for Xbox One, mostly because of the dedicated servers Microsoft invested in. I imagine the graphics will be slightly better for Ps4, but online gameplay is what I'm concerned most about.
The gfx will be the same.
@ sofresh412 , LMAO, again people with the dedicated servers, tell me, don't you think they will already have dedicated servers for the game?
@sofresh its an mmo it will be a dedicated server lmao and most of ps fp titles have had dedicated servers for years kz has had it mag had it idk if socom did or not never played it im pretty sure uncharted did as well even driveclub is having dedicated servers
I'm almost certain Bungie already confirmed they are using their own servers.
@sofresh412 All MMOs utilize their own server setups regardless of platform. Its easier than navigating through other's servers to make the game changes you want. Microsoft's servers are mostly for cloud features. Dedicated servers maybe in the future, but I am doubtful they have full scale dedicated servers for all their games on their platform.
@Valentinus "Destiny is one of the reasons why I am buying a PS4" At time of writing Agrees (23) Disagrees (5) @Thrust " Its one of the games I am looking forward to most on the Xbox One" At time of writing Agrees (9) Disagrees (20) Virtually the same comment with the exception of console preference and look at the difference. Definitely know we are on n4g. Why can't people just accept ones choice in console. The whole agree/disagree system needs to be replaced with a similar one like GameSpot have and just have a like button. If you "Agree" with them or Like what they say the click like if you don't and you disagree then take the time to comment and voice why you disagree
100 times better then any halo will ever be. destiny is all you need its the new next gen call of duty but 10 times better. it also makes titanfall irrelevant. also there will be 10 times more people playing this on the ps4 with mics then on the xbox one. ps4 nation baby! also this game does everything better then borderlands. the realistic graphics alone and shows you that and look at those boss battle enemies. ps4+destiny= the best of next gen
For me the big sell point is that you can seamlessly play with others in the game and see them far away and you get the choice to help or leave them be
There will be plenty of players on both systems for one to enjoy the game online. COD sells way more on 360 but I have never heard of people complaining on PSN that there is no one online to play with.
Make the world more interesting Please please please reward your players better, borderlands 2 has one of the worst rare system. To get a good gun you have to beat one boss 20 times and even than its a risk. I love the first borderlands and in anticipation I pre ordered borderlands 2 and season pass and was very disappointed Reward got everyone, in borderlands 2 who gets to the loot first picks up everything so it would be nice if each player gets his or her own loot after a encounter More diverse open world with more interesting characters with a back story Also if there is driving please make he driving a fun thing not just get from poit. A to point b
No doubt for sure i am excited for this but part of me is even more excited for the division.. The division will set the bar high for online multiplayer this next gen i believe.
I'm getting both, that's for sure. I'm a little more excited for the division though I think.
bf4 will defo set the par for the upcoming gen
Sshh I think it's trying to communicate.
woahhhh buddy, I think you had one too many.
I dont think BF4 and Destiny are in the same field to be compared. yes they're both FPS but both play differently
Destiny & The Diivision in 2014..........gaming is going to be so "GOLDEN" next year!
This whole next-gen is going to be "GOLDEN" ,,. I have a feeling we will see more games, than on the Ps2,. every genre will finally be covered again -through ease of development.
Now, to find the time to play.
That's been my dilemma for the past few years. Between being a shift worker and father of 3 I rarely get to play my games like I use to. I have enough backed up to last me well into next gen
The thing about Borderlands that makes it so much fun is the fact it doesn't take itself seriously whatsoever, and if it does it has it's tongue firmly in cheek, Bungie will no doubt have missed that.
borderlands is just boring its just grinding on bots
Totally depends how you play it. I can see you are correct at the simplest level, but you could break ANY game down like that and make it sound crude. The true joy of Borderlands is playing online with friends doing missions, but farming awesome guns./shields etc is sooooo good when you finally get what you wanted.
exactly farming/grinding for gear that cant even be used in pvp your stock killing meaningless bots in boring missions the most fun i had was driving a car that was only for a limited time i mean i can see y people like it its customizable and doesnt take much skill to be a beast at it i just find it like WoW except WoW is better bc of the pvp aspect it has and the raids are cooler but in borderlands its all about grinding
Hopefully the main thing it does better is not have shitty bugs or maybe compatibility with what you're playing on so a driver doesn't make it unplayable.
That title is misleading. Bungie didn't state that they will particularly do anything "better". It was more about differentiating themselves with a persistent world that's always filled with players versus a straight-up co-op shooter like BL or even Halo.
Based on what I saw on Amazon best sellers, the PS4 version of DESTINY got the advantage in pre-order over X1. It seems that Bungie will become Sony's next best friend next gen.
Not to be a party pooper but that's trolling and off topic. Not sure what ps4 version and xbox one version sales have to do with this article. I am just saying :-/
Indeed, how do they relate? On a side note it has been mentioned that Destiny will be a better experience for Sony as Bungie is working more with them than on Xbox. I don't know to what extent, but I believe it was mentioned this past E3 or the reveal of the Ps3 controller.
Not necessarily, bungie is just focusing more on their support because it's their first time developing for sony. It's the same with Insomniac and Microsoft. In the beginning the developers have to earn support but it all smoothens out later on. Either way, pre-orders don't mean anything and no one should give a crap about sales anyway.
Not their first time developing for Sony. They released a console exclusive to the PS2 called Oni. They co-developed with Rockstar on it.
@Paytaa Oni was a pretty good game, too. I enjoyed it on PC. Also, I loved playing Myth II. That game was like a 3D Age of Empires except the soldiers gibbed each other.
@Paytaa I know i knoww, i realized someone would bring ONI up. But it was literally a decade ago and it doesn't affect my point because i was referring to bungie's popularity among the new Sony fanbase.
For an MMO, sales in some way or another, do have relevance. More people playing the game means that the online community will be more vibrant and will have greater longevity. That being said, both versions will be equally great.
"You can party up with a group of people and then go around with that group" - Yeah but I don't want to, that's what I like about Borderlands, I don't have socialize with other people.
You don't have to do that in Destiny either, or least to an extent: http://www.oxm.co.uk/59300/... But if you don't want to play with other people, then you're kind of missing the main appeal of games like Destiny, Borderlands, and MMOs.
Yeah but Partying up with other people has huge advantages. If you party up with the right people sometimes random squad mates give you stuff, like rare weapons or Gear. Lets be honest, you'll always have those near 24/7 players who are grinding at that game while your freakin sleep. Hitting up quest that you hear about the next day only for the quest to be completed by dozens of other people. That's what's gonna be hard for me, finding unique places and quests rare gear creatures or new info about the universe, only to have 20 other players beat me to the punch.
yeah, cant wait to play this. play mute if ur nerdy shy lmao
I am excited about Destiny, just wish I didn't have to wait so long...
I know hope its worth the wait still waiting for them to announce the PC version of this game.
"I have never played a game where I have such a great attachment to my gun as I do in Borderlands." I feel the exact same way.
"But i don't want to go to a place with higher leveled AI! That means i need to find a new gun!"
I was ready yesterday for this game and PS4 to be out already.. T-T
I wasn't paying any attention to Destiny, but comparing it's gameplay to that of Borderlands and FarCry has definitely captured my interest.
I'm cautious about this game right now. I mean they did milk Halo for about 12 years, so I need to know that this isn't another Halo with loot and multiplayer.
it was microsoft that milked halo they were under contract with them y do you think the 2 halos they made after halo 3 sucked bc they didnt care about it anymore and wanted to move on
I thought Halo 1 was the only decent one, and even then the game got boring one the flood came in and that library level dragged on too long.
for story yes hao 1 was the best but halo 2 developed online gameplay that defines our matchmaking today and halo 3 was all about party gametypes that were just fun all the other halos are just trying to copy other innovations makng halos originality fade and disappear all together
I have no clue why people are preordering it.destiny is a day one digital download for me it's not going back to a store ever.
People still like disks, going to the store, interacting with others, peeling off the plastic, that new game smell that probably causes cancer....it's good stuff.
Because most of the times digital is more expensive?
so whats the difference between ps3 and ps4 other than graphic?
Additional power over the previous gen means so much more than graphics. It means more detailed environments, bigger worlds, more seamless gameplay, deeper more integrated online experiences, better physics, more lifelike characters, more intelligent AI. All of which make for a more immersive game. I'd say that goes a long way in differentiating the last generation from the next. Even out of the launch titles, these aren't just current gen titles with pretty graphics, they are new and deeper experiences.
Borderlands is great, but Destiny seems to be a totally different style game other than having classes and looting, which should be in any shooter rpg anyways. It also seems much more broad then Borderlands. IMO nothing can really be compared to Borderlands because if any game has gave itself a unique identity it is Borderlands
the world and atmosphere in this game is simply amazing this game is already better than bordelands and its not even out yet
I wasn't really interested in this game until earlier today when I watched a couple of videos, one of which was the big IGN reveal and I'm totally sold now.
I want this game on PC! Borderlands 2 is one of my favourite games ever, and something like that will be AWESOME!
Bungie an Rockstar are some of the only studios, who's games I buy day 1. IMO there is only a few studios besides them that seem passionate about there work an willing to stand up to publishers with a 6 year developement cycle or however long they need. Everybody else just sacrifices there talents to push titles out every year or every other for the publishers sake. This is a day one digital download for me. Just hope Bungie didn't sign a deal with the devil, they left MS Studios because they were done with Halo an MS wants to keep milking that. Then they go an sign with Activision just makes no sense hope everything doesn't end up like before.
Can't wait for this on my superior PS4
