The Daily Five: Best PS4 & Xbox One Launch Window Games

"Of course, you’ll still need games to play on these bleeding edge consoles, and there’s no shortage of promising software to fill those launch windows. Most launch window games tend to be boring tech-heavy crud, but here are five that look to offer worthwhile experiences." - Joe Garcia (Forza Motorsport 5, inFamous: Second Son, Killzone: Shadow Fall, PS4, TitanFall, Watch Dogs, Xbox One)

For me it's Infamous: Second Son, Killzone: Shadowfall, Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs, and..hmm.. And Knack. It reminds me of the old Crash days.

Infamous isn't launch sadly. But early next year, so we shouldn't have to wait long.

I'll be getting Killzone, DriveClub (upgraded from PS+), and maybe Knack based on reviews.

Oh and DCUO, Planetside 2 when it's out, and the rest of the free to play games.

Also have my eye on the Indies Octodad, and Secret Ponchos.

And there goes a month of my part-time paycheck.

Is early 2014 not the launch window? Oops lol. I thought it was because Nintendo's launch window was a few months. Anyway, if that's the case, then I'll swap that out with DriveClub (PS+ edition for now).

I already have Killzone, Watch Dogs, and Battlefield preordered (but not paid off). Secret Ponchos looks interesting, but I haven't seen any gameplay of Octodad so I don't know. Yes, YouTube is a few clicks and keywords away, I just neglected to look for it. I think I'll do that.

Next gen gets me so giddy lol.

Depending on how good killzone Shadowfall is and the price of bf4 then my line up will be.

Killzone Shadowfall and maybe bf4.

Skipping out on watchdogs

Is that like stepping out? Like an affair?

I'm leaning towards Watch Dogs as one of my choices(I'm only allowing myself to purchase two games at launch) but I definitely want to see more diversity in the gameplay.

Perhaps a few videos of the same scenario being played in different ways, would be nice.

No infamous?? c'mon guy! getchur head outta ya bumb!
xReDeMpTiOnx  +   763d ago
If we are talking launch titles then of course no infamous but if infamous counts as a launch window game then by all means I already have mine pre ordered :p

My preorder list.

- The division
- Destiny
- battlefield 4
- killzone Shadowfall
- Infamous SS

Im not super interested in any of the games listed here. I might buy 1 launch game but the rest are rentals. If Wolfenstein The New Order makes a near launch appearance I might buy it. Not sold on it yet.
I am interested in next years offerings such as The Witcher 3, The Elder Scrolls Online, The Division & even Transistor.
I might be interested in Destiny & MGS 5 depending on how they turn out.
IDK, launch window... looks like it has to be a FPS as I'm not keen on racers. I guess for my one game, BF4, KZ Shadowfall & or Wolfenstein. I really haven't decided yet. I got time... plus, there's still PS3 games I want to play. Alot actually. I got a nice backlog & I want to get Kingdom Hearts 1.5, FF X/X-II HD, Dragons Crown & Bats Arkham Origins.

I thought Titanfall was coming out late 2014? What are we defining as "launch window" ??
