No Story Mode In The New Super Smash Bros. Game? Are You Serious?

The Tyuno Project: "I’ve been a huge Super Smash Bros. fan for years and I loved playing the game on every Nintendo console. When Nintendo announced a new Smash Bros. game for the Wii U, I was jumping with joy. But now news are spreading around the internet that the new Super Smash Bros. will not include a story mode. After hearing this news, I have to wonder what the hell is Nintendo think? " (Super Smash Bros., Wii U)

Eh, the only reason that I ever played Story Mode in the Smash games is to unlock new characters and trophies. In current Smash games, you're able to ignore Story Mode all together and unlock characters through Brawl matches. The only thing that will be missing are some trophies.

To me, Story Mode is something that is fun the first time around, but then it becomes more and more like work. After all, when I think Smash Bros., I think multiplayer craziness, not single-player action.

"but then it becomes more and more like work."

Yes. The Great Maze killed it for me in the ending.

Beating Sub-space will all the characters.. ugh it was horrible. First time was fun, but it wore off fast

There will be another single player mode besides story.

It's not just going to be VS only.

I don't think SSB needs a story mode

One fighting game that had great story and pretty lengthy too was the latest mortal kombat

But other than hat single player stories in fighting games not very important

Blazblue says hi
Hicken  +   488d ago
Yes, BlazBlue has one of my favorite stories in gaming, honestly. I'm biased, though, cuz I love Noel.

I enjoyed the first few hours of the story mode, mainly because I was playing it in co-op. But my god, around the midpoint it became extremely dull and tedious. It won't be missed, i'll tell you that much.

Nintendo games have stories?
andrewer  +   488d ago
Do you know The Legend of Zelda at least? It's not the only example of course but it beats MANY stories.

fire emblem? last story? magical starsign? padora's tower? non of those have stories??? what the hell do you call a story then?

I usually don't not read articles before commenting, but this is obviously a troll"bring negative attention to nintendo"article.Story mode was a nice addition but not that important, ive logged over 500 hours into brawl, guess how much of it was from the subspace emmisary...

Plus what some people don't seem to get, is that there will still be some kind of single player, and judging by the end of the megaman reveal trailer we will get boss fights too.

But weren't people slamming PS All Stars for a lackluster story mode?

Now that SSB is dropping it, it's not necessary?
PopRocks359  +   488d ago
They both had crappy story modes. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned. Subspace was good for two things; some cutscenes you'll only ever watch a handful of times and unlocking all the characters. They handled the latter MUCH better in the first and second Smash game.

So yeah, it's pretty unnecessary.

ummmm SSB doesn't need a story, it was fine without one in the original and it was fine in Melee and largely ignored in Brawl so I see no need for people to throw a fit now....oh wait nintendo haters will cry about everything no matter how meaningless it actually is. SSB was built on the multiplayer and that is what it is known for along with it's character selection.
HexxedAvenger  +   488d ago
I thought Subspace was fun. I can live without it. Just bring on the game!

i don't think smash fans play the series for the story... cuz u know, the actual fighting is what they wanna see and all
PsycheMax  +   488d ago
Please, some Grammar Nazi Hacker on this website.

Anyway, the game needs singleplayer contents. Story, or something like it, is needed in a not-always-online game.

story mode in an arena brawler is about as useless as story mode in a fighting game.
andrewer  +   488d ago
:( Story mode was awesome, and I simply loved to see those beautiful cutscenes with characters from different IPs, other than just seeing them fighting each other. Of course SSB is about the fight but, story was cool and shouldn't just be ignored IMO.
live2play  +   488d ago
Sakurai said there is still going to be those movie type scenes but like in a menu. Instead of unlocking them by playing
_QQ_  +   488d ago
Thats good, The cutscenes were the only good things about Subspace other than the bosses.
Darkfist  +   488d ago
What if they removed online and said that playing local is the best experience for the game?

What if the ps4 went to 500$ and sony started charging 75$ a game?

Just stop......ps4 is raping wiiu

Yeah by a total of zero sales right?, calm down,i'm demonstrateing to this kid how dumb he looks by making pointless assumptions. PS4 hasn't even luanched yet, the wiiu sold out on pre orders too, that doesn't mean anything. who knows if any of the consoles can manage past 30 or 40 mil in this economy anyway.Plus the topic was on smash and Smash bros rapes PS allstars, No amount of sales will change that.
