Spinning in Place, the Story of Gran Turismo the Movie

Movies that are based off of video game IPs have usually not fared too well in the past, but a recent title just confirmed to be in development has raised more than a few eyebrows. One of the biggest racing franchises in gaming history, Gran Turismo, has been picked up for development and the Daily Reaction crew of Seb and Dan put together a few ideas on how this story-lacking title can be turned into a movie. (Gran Turismo 6, PS3, PS4)

I remember the movie "The Wizard" which was based on the Nintendo game "Super Mario". I hope this movie isn't like that. To think the ones who will be producing this are also producing 50 Shades of Gray, it will be interesting to see the result of this film.

Moneyball, The Social Network, Safe, 21, House of Cards, Brothers, Magnolia, THE MASK!, Boogie Nights, American History X!. So yeah.

Shrink (Kevin Spacey - minor role for Robin Williams movie), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me :D, Little Nicky :D, Rush Hour 2, John Q, Knockaround Guys, Blow.

Yeah. I left some out that others might know of, but I felt like not. Ooh, Pleasantville. :D I can't wait to see what they'll be doing with Gran Turismo.

I'd pay to watch that movie

If Angelina Jolie and Nicholas Cage were primed for this project - produced and imagined as a spiritual sequel to Gone In Sixty Seconds- that itself would warrant immediated excitement and markeing potential.

Tbat would be an ingenious decision.

Love to see Kazunori Yamauchi do a movie cameo.

I think they should also focus on the basics of making a credible and memorable great car stunt/camera cinematography without any CGI or at least minimal computer aids.

And a simple story.. maybe like that of Steve McQueen's LeMans where both man and machine are given equal treatment.

Shouldn't just be about cars ( although a lot of memorable automobiles from the **game's past and present history should feature in the movie ) since they can't really emote can they..

Didn't Kazunori do the 24 hour Nurbergring GTR race?? Or is that someone else??
Me-Time  +   430d ago
Since '09, he started with the Lexus IS F. But ever since then, he ran wih a GT-R. This years 24 hours of Nurburgring, there was a failure with the car (I barely remember it being a cooling failure and I wouldn't know exactly what that would consist of). He's a pretty quick driver. Look up any or a couple of his runs on youtube.

@metime
I've seen his run on GT5 TV or whatever that thing. So that was him, huh?? He's pretty awesome though

How about the story of a boy growing up with playstation and Gran Turismo being his favorite? Showcasing the grow of Gran Turismo and at the same time the Playstation from PSOne to PS4, some kind of plot or drama between that as the boy grows up. Come PS3, he joins GT Academy or something like that and ends up being a great racer winning big time and being featured in the game for PS4 or something with Kazunori Yamauchi thrown in there at the end to congratulate the guy. I think that this well done by some professional writers etc would actually be a good movie and a great move for GT and Playstation.
