Music in Video Games – A Love Affair

"My dad was very musically inclined and I believe music is in my blood and so is gaming. I was very young when I realized that video game music wasn’t just a series of bleeps and bloops, it was magical! Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior are just some of the many console games that introduced me to the realm of video game music. On the PC side there were games like DOOM, Dark Legions and 7th guest that all had a haunting ambiance. However, Final Fantasy is my all time favorite overall. Nobuo Uematsu’s scores are simply legendary! Black Mages FTW!!!" - Samson Lancaster of Str N Gaming (Culture, Diablo III, Mario Paint, Nobuo Uematsu, PC, Retro, Skyrim Legendary, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, The Legend of Zelda, Tommy Tallarico, Video Games Live)

I too have soft spot for chiptunes, Sparkster is one of my fav soundtracks along with TMNT Hyperstone Heist. My most listened to modern soundtrack is easily Alan Wake.

Nice article! I recently discovered the Legacy Music Hour podcast. I've been getting my chiptunes fix from there.

Yes, thanks for the Podcast suggestion! The Legacy Music Hour is like nerd-nip for my ears.
