He's refreshingly frank and thinks out loud about rival games in genres he works with (see the Tekken series and Heavenly Sword). All the same, his latest work, Ninja Gaiden 2, has as much, if not more, in common with a famous after-school kids' show than the interactive Kill Bills you'd imagine he makes.
Ninja Gaiden 2's spider ninjas are straight out of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Set your pitchforks down and think back to that show's plastic and prosthetics; remember the brawl with the big lord of plastic and prosthetics at the end of every episode. He's here to top off each level, too -- before coming back as a demoted mini-boss in the next. But damn, if it ain't a hoot to beat his ass."
